We havea similar problem now & again! All we do is unscrew the white lead from the back of the sky box & put it back in again, seems to keep it happy again for a while! Not that I am an expert or anything, just thought you might like to try it cos its free!Piggypoints-749&325 ~ Boots AC-849 ~ Nectar-688 ~ £2 coins-£216 banked since July 07 ~ Tesco CC-(saving for Florida)£832

But, the dish probably only requires moving a very small amount to effect a total cure, not difficult and surely better than paying Sky £60 to do just that.
It all depends I guess on the dish location and the ability of the OP.0 -
Thanks for all the replies... very speedy!
Will try all suggestions on here.
The reason Im assuming Virgin do a dish is because 2 of my neighbours recently had virgin fitted and both now have a dish on display?????
When you say tree- are we talking 'cant get your arms wrapped round the trunk' or does this include trees that are just a few inches in diameter? I ask as my neighbours have a rapidly growing tree but its quite skinny in comparison to what I am imagining would affect the coverage! Thats why I never even thought of it.... would be just my luck though - we dont get on with our neighbours! lol0 -

Anything at all thats inbetween the dish and where its pointing:idea:0 -
Great.... perhaps if we moved the dish a few feet over then but kept it pointing the same way it might work.... think its going to have to wait till the weekend when we can keep moving/testing it.
Forgot to say, we tried the "fix it or cancel speech" and they very promptly put us through to cancellations!
We just have a standard box.
Really appreciate all the advice.
Thank you all.0 -

ROFLMAO. Riiight. Only a slight problem with that. THEY USE SEPERATE RECEIVERS ON THE LNB so one doesn't affect the other.
Sometimes your a complete d*ck arnt you
You must have a ton of friends......
Cheers for pointing that out. What I MENT to say was swop them over, as nearly every dual lnb is NOT equal in strength.
In fact gizmos exist to balance them ~

I have had the same problem - fixed by changing the LNB myself (cost me £9.99 inc postage) - simple job - took about 10mins.0

You shouldn't need to move the dish from it's existing location, just adjust it very slightly by loosening the bolts, and turning it very slightly until your signal strenth / quality improves.0 -
For what its worth here is a link to some info on aligning your dish, which is pointing at a satellite in geostationary orbit over the equator.

Hope you find it useful, you problem may well be due to a faulty LNB as above, they are cheap enough to replace if you are good on ladders.
When looking for objects that may be blocking your signal remember that Sky use an offset dish and the path of the signal reaching the dish is around 25 degrees to the horizontal depending on your locationThat gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Erm, Sky do not use " Dual " LNB's, they use either Single, Twin, Quad or Octo.
A Dual LNB is completely different to a Twin LNB.0
