  • Welcome to the madhouse Scrumpy60, now you have finally got out of the lurking stage and become a fully fledged posted on this thread there is no turning back ... so sit back, relax, take in the ideas, join in with your own ideas and most of all save lots of pennys on gifts that look so expensive and wear that smug smile knowing you paid less that you should ;)

Haha thank you! My mum was so shocked with a food hamper that I did her for Christmas that she nearly cried and it took her 3 weeks to even take it out of the cellophane! She was so worried that I'd spent a fortune on all the brand names, it was really rewarding :D

I changed my mind on the tea hamper for my parents anniversary and it's just random things they'll like now, really.

I'm struggling a lot with what can be in there for my dad though.. any ideas? He likes gardening, his chickens, self sufficiency and stuff like that.. hates watching sports and stuff like that. Any ideas please? :)

    A gardening journal/notebook?

Do you cook? Could include homemade treats such as chutney, jam, biscuits...

    Hi riggerz

Thanks for this, I get my baskets local to me, in our cheap shop for about £2 or less, sometimes the charity shops have nice ones cheap. And I have heard Wilkinsons, Poundland and Dunelms sell them quite cheap.

    Hi,
The bookpeople at the mo have a great book - The concise guide to self sufficiency which is £3.00 !! The gardeners pocket companion £2.99. What about some nice gardeners handcream, gardening gloves. Some seeds, subscription to a gardeners mag or practical poultry or the smallholders mag. Perhaps just buy him the latest editions. Send off for some free seed catalouges, Dobbies have a nice one. Does he have a greenhouse - perhaps a thermometer. A toy for the chickens, they love small sized footballs - this stops them from fighting and they love something to keep them amused, you could make a quirky little label up for it. A journal or two, one for chickens and one for the veggies.
