Raising funds for a 3yr old with Neuroblastoma - cancer

I am part of a family raising funds for my cousins daughter who is 3. She was diagnosed late last year with Neuroblastoma. She did originally have 1 primary tumour, but now 4 more have been found.

There is treatment in America which offers 60% survival rate, whereas here with the only treatment here, there is only 20%. The treatment, however, costs in excess of £200,000 - a large amount for us to raise on our own.

So I was looking for some inspiration, we have done so far - sponsored bean bath, tabletop sale, fire service car wash, darts/quiz/raffle night, collection at local football ground, collection in local supermarket, collection in local pub, family fun day at my husbands work. There is a soul night disco and fancy dress disco planned.

People keep suggesting a ball - but I see that as a waste of much needed money. As people will be spending a fair bit on evening wear and to be truely honest that money is much needed for Chelsea. So I don't understand why people do them.

If you can offer any advice that would be brilliant, thanks for reading.

I can't really offer any advice on raising funds. However have just donated through paypal on your website. Good Luck with raising the funds you need for Chelsea.

  • I have also just donated through your website.

I wish you a speedy path to the amount needed to treat such a lovely little girl. I just wish i could do more.

Hi - I didn't think I had said it was a charity, if I have missed something somewhere please let me know.
I have had to take the link to my website, out of my original post as I am not a registered charity. But what people don't understand is we are not allowed to register as a charity as we are only raising funds for one person.
People write back to us saying no as we are not registered, but we can't register so how can we get help, if a rule won't allow us to.

    Thanks

Hi there, yes its been in quite a few times and to be honest only a minority of people have responded.
I have even wrote to national media and had no response.

    Thanks

No you did not say so but I thought that I would give you that piece of advise as it is very important in fund raising.

Anyway good luck and it is a good website.

  • Thanks ahai1

I thought I had missed something. I was pulled up on it right at the beginning when we first started raising funds and didn't realise. I had to through my site and change it all to fundraising instead of charity.
    Thanks though, much appreciated.
