I get bored drinking water all the time, and sometimes I have juice, herbal teas etc., for variety.
I offer Charlotte juice sometimes for a change, so she doesn't get bored with drinking water all the time. Here I go again on my own....0 -
just been to poundland and they have hipp organic dried cereals for £1, and cow and gate juice 2 for £1, plus a few other dried foods, and jars. Might be worth stocking up (bbe were in 2009.)0

I use oats too and occasionally the baby cereals. I also think the baby juices are a rip off and there is no need for them. My baby has water most of the time and occassionally a fruit tea cooled for variety.
Have you joined the Boots baby club as they often send you vouchers for money off and we tend to get lots for the cereals.0 -
no probs bell. no she is not having her regular milk feeds. she just wont take it!!! i couldnt breastfeed so she is on formula. for breakfast she has prridge made with 5oz of milk and then 4oz of milk drank. then for lunch she has a jar of main and a jar of dessert and the same for dinner. then at bed time she has an 80z bottle and has now started waking during the night again for another 80z bottlelove you lots like jelly tots0

becles - my youngest has juice sometimes, and now he's 3 I even give him ribena sometimes, I know I'm a bad mother!
At the toddler groups I used to let him have squash if it didn't contain sunset yellow (he can't have squash at the wacky warehouse).
I see nothing wrong with juice in moderation, and I don't drink water for every drink I have.
But I think that starting off on just water has helped my boys drink water at mealtimes, unlike my friend who bought juice, and whose children never touch water, and drink only cans or bottles of ready made fruit shoots/coke etc.52% tight0 -
I've never understood why people give their babies juice,
Jxx
As long as they are drinking then I dont care--shes now 4 with perfect teeth.
Milk can be equally as bad as sugary juice and is one of the major causes of tooth rot in babies.
As long as their teeth are getting a good brush then it should be okTRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0 -
My dd was hospitilsed once due to her refusal to drink. The hosp force fed her liquid using a syringe and it wasnt water but diluting juice.

Not sure why you decided to quote me when I'm far from the only one on this thread to make the point. AFAIK from the dentist, the trouble with milk comes when a bottle is continued to be used into toddlerhood which means the milk is directly into contact with the teeth. More than what the bottle contained, it was the use of the bottle that my dentist seemed to be against - although both mine were off the bottle by just over a year.
And I certainly wouldn't take dietary advice from a hospital - DD was in hosptial just before her first birthday with a stomach bug and had to have dioralyte and the nurses were aghast that she was quite happy to have it diluted with water and didn't have juice. They were also amazed that she didn't need to be pacified with a tellytubbies video - what can I say, she was my first and we did it by the book  although most of the medical professionals I encountered hadn't read the book . Never mind, we did it right with DS, wall to wall cbeebies!
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -

As I work in dental health and teach children and parents, I would be interested for a link about where you read that a)milk is as bad as sugar juice and b) that milk is one of the major causes of tooth rot in babies.
Clearly my years of training in the NHS must mean nothing if your statement is correct.....0
