What to do with a Gammon Joint

Think there's the basics of a plan forming there. I normally soak a gammon too, before boiling and then cutting the skin off to roast. I rub a bit of honey over the criss-crossed fat underneath and roasting until crispy. Always works a treat.

Soak for at least 12 hours and change the water a few times, their gammon is always very salty."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

Do you have a pressure cooker?
What I do is put the (unsoaked) gammon in the pressure cooker covered in water, bring it up to high pressure, then let the pressure reduce naturally, chuck out the water, repeat with fresh water and chuck it out again, then finally put it back in with apple juice or cider, bay leaf & a few cloves and pressure cook for a third of the time you'd normally boil it for. Then finish off in the oven with whatever you want to glaze the outside with.
Cuts down on a lot of soaking and cooking timenormally we get a Co-Op gammon similar in size to that Aldi one and it's done in twenty minutes.

Always soak Aldi gammon, put it in a large pan, cover with water and bring to the boil, when it is boiling remove from the heat, drain off the water, refill with cold and then follow the boiling instructions, perfect gammon every time.0

The way I cook a Gammon is to boil it with bay leaf etc and then take it out and cut away the rind but leave some of the fat layer. Cut a criss cross and stud with cloves but that is optional. Spread it with Dijon mustard and then coat it in demerara sugar.
Put it into a very hot oven for approx 30 mins until the coating has crisped and caramelized. Looking at the picture I think Aldi have done something similar. I would strongly advise lining the dish you put the gammon in with tin foil as caramelized sugar is a nightmare to clean !
You can straight roast a piece of gammon in the same way as pork but the advantage of boiling first is that the meat will be alot more succulent and softer and the stock from boiling the gammon makes great soup.
