If you've been doing it for 10 years I would at least expect you to be able to spell renovation.

Now I rent.
But at no time did I ever buy/own my house to make money or to give me a few extras.
Holidays? Not had one since 1995. In fact, having bought my house I had to practically go into shut-down mode from 2004 onwards just to keep paying the mortgage. No social life, no holiday, no contact with other humans, sat with the lights out, waiting it out, hoping things would improve.
Then I saw the light. The bubble bursting. And I knew I could wait no longer for a better job, the house HAD to go.
If you couldn't see that writing on the wall then why not? It was there. There was even a whole TV programme with a bloke buying then and desperately sweating to finish it to flog it on. He escaped by the skin of his teeth.0 -
ok i admire you like to earn a bit extra for luxuries..but obviously your way is not going to work now...i work mornings/afters and nights in a factory and get reletively good wage..BUT to supplement it i work every sun lunch in a pub for 5 hours..it gives me £120 a month..over year £1440..you could go on hols with that every year easily..and its guaranteed and no risk and no 20-30 extra hours away from family..change your second job..simpleTO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....0

And still chucking every spare penny into it!0 -
Reminds me of some share tip, never buy what you arent happy holding for 10 years.
The OP underlines a large part of the debt problem, sweetener rates meant people bought into debt they werent happy to hold for 10 years0 -
i work every sun lunch in a pub for 5 hours..it gives me £120 a month
Then the damned Govt take 20% off you in tax, so you get £98.38.
Which is a tad annoying as you're now only getting £4.57/hour.
I wish they'd raise the tax free allowance!0 -
Your attitude stinks, I hope you do go bankrupt it's just a shame that, whatever happens, your children will end up suffering.
How dare you jump on a forum posting accusative crap, this forum, was in part, set up to help people during times of financial hardship. There are thousands of people on here willing to help others, to offer their own personal time and knowledge to advise on issues from bankruptcy to debt clearance. I've seen an incredible amount of selflessness on this forum, I think it's wonderful how caring people can be.
Who are you to come here and criticise? If you came here with your issue then perhaps we might have been able to offer advice, at the very least you'd have got support but instead you want to blame others for your ill informed decisions. When you go bankrupt due to your stupidity I hope no one on the bankruptcy forum helps you because you don't deserve it with the attitude you've shown so far today.
As for "providing someone with a lovely home", b*ll*cks you'd have made yourself a nice little profit. If you really were only making a couple of thousand, just enough to pay for a holiday then you have no one to blame but yourself because that's a ridiculous business proposition. Betting tens of thousands for a return of a few thousand? Crazy. You'd make more betting on the horses.
Here's a thought and perhaps a little dose of reality for you, it's your fault, and people like you, that we're in a recession and the housing market has crashed. People like you who speculated on things that they had no clue about, people like you that borrowed more than they could afford.
If anything we should all be blaming you for the state of this country. When you default and go bankrupt who do you think will be paying for that? Us, those of us that were sensible. Who do you think will be paying your job club cheques every couple of weeks?
Take some responsibility for your actions man, stop feeling sorry for yourself and come back with an apology and maybe you'll get some support and advice.
Until then fook off.0 -

Our 1st house was a nightmare and I had a toddler. I haven't the stamina for a hairshirt post now....but our stairs fell down (collapsed) and we had to access upstairs by ladder for 6 months as didn't have the ££££ to replace.
