Thing is, you know people like me are out there so why do you immediately shout "troll" when one pops up? You talk enough about buy to let landlonrds going under and you love it maybe you don't love it so much when there's a real person behind it.
Call me a troll if it makes you all feel better revelling in other's misfortune but it won't make me any less real. Maybe I am a plonker for borrowing too much but I never made more than a few grand on each property, just a bit extra to pay for the odd holiday, special needs equipment for my youngest, nothing fancy or extravagant. Maybe it was a gamble but for people like me, it was a bit of much needed extra income. Now we're facing losing everything. I am not looking for help and I'm not looking for sympathy but the least you can do is hear me out and be aware i exist.
I am quiet bullish campared to most on here, (well there is about 4 posertive people on here;) )
But I called troll stright away, this is the last place you would come for your first post in your situation. I would have gone to stright to motgages:rolleyes:
Also I have never laghed at any one loosing their house and if you are genuin I do feel sorry for you but I doubt you are.;)0 -
OP could try selling the property as is, like this one for £1,000,000.The development was undertaken as the speculative conversion of a former classroom block previously part of Littlemead School. The investors have not completed the development and this is now being offered for sale partially completed.

Just say, you weren't in the crap, just say you had made more than a few grand on on your property, say you went to an auction to buy a repo ?, would you care that there was a sad story behind that repo, thought not. What if a FTB was at the auction, who had been saving for 4 years and had found their perfect house, but you outbid them by a £1000, would you care, no thought not.
Like skap said, get a job, when people like you stop making money for doing nothing except looking at the clock, waiting for time to pass, then banking the cash, the better.
Do you have kids ?, think of them in the future, desperately trying to afford a property, competing against people like you.
Harsh..... yes, Reality, certainly0 -

Can't finish it as I had only enough capital to do half the rennovation and have previously counted on HPI to remortgage for the rest. Can't sell because who'd want a half-finished project? This business model has previousy worked for 10 years, 5 properties, living in each so no capital gains, now we're fooked.
Not greedy, just supplementing my income by working hard and creating something, we don't deserve this.
''Someone a bit bored today''???
Oh, and I haven't read it all yet either......back to the thread.0 -

Ok, for those who can't be bothered to actually read what I write I do a full time 40 hour week in a proper job, come home and do another 20-30 hours a week working on the house. I try to be a father and husband too. It's not easy money, it's more like slave labour most of it is labouring in all weathers. I take a hous that no one wants and we live in it under terrible conditions while I try to make it nice. I do a proper job and try to use quality fittings and when it's finished I sell it. After expenses there is never much profit and I expect that for the hours I put in it works out at less than the minimum wage but it is something I can do and I'm proud of that so for a couple of years I work like a slave and when we sell we get a few luxuries that most people take for granted. I am not well paid so it's like a bonus. Do you begrudge all people who work hard the money they earn or just those who work on houses?
Borrowing 6 times salary is nothing as many borrowed more and it was s ure bet summer 2007, no sign of anything changing. It was a gamble but one we had taken before and I don't ask for sympathy for my mistakes. I started this thread because I think you people lose sight of the real people behind the news hedlines, I don't begrudge those waiting to be able to afford a house so why so much anger towards people like me?0 -

Right so if there never any money in why bleeding bother?
I put it too you sir that you have been watching programes like sarah beeney and thinking you can make squillions of quids out of doing up a house.
Well beeney herself has said most people on her program only managed because of rampant HPI, and they would have made toss all otherwise.
Doing a house up is a very complex job and not nearly as easy as it is portrayed on a half hour heavily edit TV programe. Ive been involved in literally hundreds of projects like this and they rarely make the money they thought they would.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Im sorry Downinthedumps if this is a genuine posting but we all have to struggle to meet our commitments - I used to work night shifts when my OH worked days so one of us would always be with the kids - we hardly saw each other and didnt have any hols for a decade - the kids were happy with days out - they dont need material things (and YES, one of my children was special needs, as you say one of yours is).
I still cant believe this is a genuine posting as I cant see what has changed in your life to stop this work being completed and you just staying put and adjusting your aspirations re the "few luxuries most people take for granted".0
