TV Broken after 18 months

Does anyone know where I stand with this.

My friend bought a TV from Currys 18 months ago, although yesterday morning she tried to turn it on and it has no power.

Where would she stand with the Sale of Goods Act as I would have thought a £400 TV should reasonably last longer than 18months??

Would they have to refund or replace the TV, or is 18 months as long as a new TV should last?

Has your friend checked the fuse? Has your friend flicked the switch?

Apparently she has tried swapping the fuse with another TV in her house, but no joy. Thanks for pointing it out though :)

You need to pay an independant TV engineer to do an assessment on the TV. If it is diagnosed as inherently faulty then you need to send the report to currys customer services who will investigate your complaint and may arrange a repair for you.

So why are the same goods in the USA and Europe cheaper than they are here?

And why since the no win no fee thing has kicked off has my business insurance more than trebbled?

The money of all the compensation has to come from somewhere....
