So why are the same goods in the USA and Europe cheaper than they are here?

And why since the no win no fee thing has kicked off has my business insurance more than trebbled?

The money of all the compensation has to come from somewhere....

In fairness I'm not sure that PL insurance contributes vast amounts to the cost of any sort of FMCG.

In reply to dave. The reason our products cost more than the US is due to tax. We pay a lot more tax than them on everything.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

The 6 year rule came from an EU Directive, so the same rules apply across Europe and the replacement costs are the same everywhere in Europe.

The USA has much lower sales taxes, a population five times bigger than the UK to sell goods to, and much lower costs, such as land prices and wages.

Jeez, where do I start with that! After all the months of 'demand compensation' and putting people down that's the best you've got?

What the hell has 'no win no fee' got to do with getting faulty goods repaired?

The only 'compensation' that article is talking about is what you're legally entitled to when purchases go wrong. The only example of anything beyond that is someone getting the cost of clothes back that a faulty washing machine destroyed, which seems fair enough.

Retailers know they have these obligations and meeting them will already be built into their business costs, the marginal difference on an individual product will be absolutely minimal for the likes of Currys etc.

You could just admit defeat and crawl back under your stone?

Perhaps if businesses supplied goods fit for purpose and didn't try to skimp on manufacturing costs to swell their own wallets disproportionately there would be no need for a "compensation culture"
As you were so quick to once point out how i spent my time, perhaps if you spent less time trolling on here and more working, your business would be able to easily afford your pl insurance?

surely if it was "needless" it would have been thrown out by the judge, you lose again.

Get Tozer to litigate for you, say you cried and £1.2 million will fix it.

Can't resist the childishness can you?

I'm an excellent lawyer, but I doubt even I could get £1.2m in this case....
