You could buy a brand new merc but if you put a load of sludge in engine it wouldn't work very well. Lol
Well said that man!

My opinion;
Worcester I love, bit tight to work on but good after sales and reliable. Expensive.
Vaillant, good quality boiler, poor after-sales when needed IMO, expensive.
Potterton (Gold/Titanium) Great price, good quality, good aftersales IMO
Baxi Netatec had lots of problems when they first came out but apparently sorted now, same after-sales as Potterton.
Baxi Duo-tec same as Potterton Gold/Titanium
Veissmann not a bad boiler, plastic hydraulic unit and now you don't need to be Veissmann accredited to get the 5 years apparently, cheek. Good aftersales.
Main, great budget boiler, well made in my experience, same as Potterton/Baxi, good after-sales.
Remeha, Newer to the UK market, I like them, same after-sales team as Potterton/Baxi/Main, recently changed controls to make them easier to operate.
Ravenheat - Rubbish.
Biasi - Not much better.
Halstead - Rubbish boiler but not bad after-sales once you've waited 5 mins at £1.50 per min!
Ideal - ok if you don't mind trying to find someone with tiny hands to work on them and you have deep pockets. After-sales not bad.
Glowworm - scandalous parts prices, same after-sales as Vaillant. Poor burner seals.
Heatline - cheap boiler, ok if you're short of money but same as Glowworm, sold cheaply but costs add up from repairs.
All my opinion other RGI's will disagree and have their own opinion.
As already stated, poor install makes even the best boilers seem unreliable and costly.0 -
I am having a Vaillant installed. I checked in which Magazine and Vaillant and Worcester come out on top in their reviews. The guy who is installing it is a 'gold installer' or something for Vaillant and therefore I am getting a ten year Vaillant guarantee0
