The Bolton store was still selling at £1, a friend of ours got some today, and even if they weren't, they have still been honouring the price today if you look at other posts!!! they should have a policy and stick to it, not do different things for others, and some people in todays posts even got double the difference, even without the sign still being up!!! After todays episode in the store with bad mannered managers i will be giving tesco's a miss!!!""

Hiya, I did read all the posts but didn't see any where a store was still 'selling at £1 each'. That would be very difficult for a store seeing as the prices are controlled centrally on the tills and the items have been scanning at £2 each since yesterday.

I have read posts where the store has still had the £1 sign up...but that's a different matter and any customer seeing that and then asking at the till or approaching a staff member for that price to be honoured before buying, need to think again!

In Tesco, when overcharged at the till, you should say nothing to the cashier and just PAY. It's a simple rule to follow once you know about the DTD policy (which applies to all Tesco stores).

Then you go with your receipt to CS to claim Double the Difference as you have then been overcharged. I can't see how anyone can claim DTD without the signs for £1 having been up (unless the signs have since been removed and they went back for their DTD later, and the CS staff checked and believed them about the price that was on display at the time of purchase).

I don't blame you for being really annoyed, I would have been too. But why did you ask for a price check at CS, I don't geddit?

can i just say. we knew these were going to be £1 BEFORE it went live so hardly an 'error'! basically they didnt want to lose loads of money so they stopped it. is wrong if you ask me.

That's standard industry practice with any loss-leader product. Once they sell a certain number they stop selling at the loss-leader price as their budget will have been set only for a certain number of sales at that price.

Personally, I suspect Tesco made an error on the price with these! The large yellow SELS said 'save £1.99, now £1' and the price at the till was indeed £1 for one day...but IMHO I reckon the offer was never meant to be that price. I suspect it was supposed to be 'save £1, now £1.99' and someone made an error in our favour at the outset! :rotfl:

I am not certain but the quick pulling of this offer (which was supposed to go on for a week) suggests something strange happened at Tesco Towers.

  • PS Don't be scared to metion it's for the PTA as they might give you a discount or a few free :D[/quote]

I agree, I once got 75 Danish Pastrys for a 'coffee morning' at work in aid of charity. Just pop in with a letter and ask to see the Manager. All the supermarkets are great for charity.
I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 2010
  • Charity my backside!!!!! We were getting only a few for cubs, and my friends were getting for pensioners, and they wouldnt even honour 10 each, which led to my 2 friends being escorted out!! suppose it depends on the managers on the day, for they dont have a set policy!!! i am so appaulled with their behaviour, i think sometimes a position or title goes to their heads!!
