    Affordable is the key.

Private rents are too high. There's no security of tenure on private either.
Ask people why they want a council house.

i actually know someone who has had to give up work due to serious illness

he has lost the accommodation he was in because of this

he is unable to find a HA property to rent because he is a single male without immediate family (and is therefore on the bottom of the list)

he is having to move from one friends couch to another week by week

Maybe if this government didn't give all the council houses to asylum seekers and immigrants there'd be a lot more available for those GENUINELY in need!!!

    funny you should say that

the bloke i referred to above did say that he was advised by a local councillor to leave the country and then come back in without any id............................he would then be given somewhere to live

    on people couches
    caravans
    on the street
and mainly i would say........private rented

a lot of people on low incomes who are in private rented accommodation would like to be in a HA property as the rent is a lot lower

Absolutely no vested interest there, then........
Oh come on, don't be silly.

    It's the internet
    - it's not real!

I doubt that would increase it by that much, since most of the homes are no doubt filled by 16 year chav's and their 3 kids.

I'd like to see an end to councils being allowed to sell them on. As it would help if they stopped letting the people living in them buy them. Who then go on to sell them on or get other people to buy it with their names on the deeds. Especially since the prices they are sold for are discounted. People in council homes appareantly can't afford the homes hence the reason they are there. It shouldn't be a case of the taxpayers discounting the property so they can own it.
