Ebay & Paypal Is A Joke

Bought 6 cd's off ebay they turned out to be cheap home made copies. I filed an item not as described and they expect me to contact sony, send off the cd's, get a letter from them stating they are copies and fax it to paypal all within the next 10 days. I am going mad or is this really ridiclous. I have been with ebay/paypal for the last 2 years and I think this is the last straw, they claim full protection if you pay via paypal - my foot. Once again the criminal wins and the consumer is left out of pocket:mad:

Why should EBAY take your word for it that they are fakes??

The fact that Ebay has suspended this seller and since I purchased the cds several people had left feedback saying the cds were cheap copies, the fact that I have been a member for 2 years and have 100% feedback... I think that should be enough considering the fact it is £18 which is a small amount for a company like Ebay/Paypal

I was under the impression that it's an illegal offence to knowingly send counterfeit goods in the post...

Could you not just take them to a SONY shop?

I understand your frustration, but they do have to check. Not everyone is as fine & upstanding member of the ebay community as your good self, and a lot of people do try it on, ie would copy the cd then claim their money back. Try not to take it personally.

I agree with the OP, it is totally ridiculous demand from PayPal. What PayPal should instead say is send the CDs back to the seller through recorded mail. Send PayPal proof of recorded mail. PayPal refund.

Instead PayPal place these silly demands on the consumer so they eventually think it's too much hassle to jump through so many hurdles and, of course, PayPal keeps its fees.

There are easier ways to do these things, unfortunately PayPal shows little sympathy to anyone. That's why I always use credit cards. When something goes wrong I get the credit card co. to refund. Hopefully PayPal gets a nice charge for me doing it this way.

To be honest how do we know the OP didn't copy the CDs, Loads of people try it on and its upto ebay to worm out the fake cases.

Oh use credit cards and charge back to paypal means your paypal account goes into the negative so paypal will come after YOU for the money, I've gone through a charge back and found this, but was given a courtesy credit from paypal

Well we can be suspicious of everyone, doesn't make for a friendly world though. There's absolutely no substance to start slinging accusations at the OP, who has come on here with a genuine question.

I'm sure paypals stance on counterfeit items is that they must be destroyed, with appropriate paper work to back this up, and not returned to the sender. Much like they do with fake hand bags and clothes etc. If they seem to be making a living from it, I bet trading standards would like to know.
