Ebay & Paypal Is A Joke

I made a genuine point, and you sling crap at me. When I worked in customer services I saw alot of "respectable" people copying cds then trying to return the copy. Its more apparent than you think.dancingdoll wrote: »Well we can be suspicious of everyone, doesn't make for a friendly world though. There's absolutely no substance to start slinging accusations at the OP, who has come on here with a genuine question.
Seems to me you live in a rosey world with people leaving front doors open.0 -

You take my post too personally, d.edna.
My post simply stated that it was unfair to start accusing the OP of copying CDs when you have no proof. For starters it takes it off topic and the OP's question was about the absurdity of PayPal's processes, which I agree with.
And if you think my post was slinging "crap" at you then wow, you really do live in a rosy world. There's a lot worse that can be slung at you in this world.0 -

d.edna didn't accuse the OP of copying CDs. He/she just pointed out that if we don't know if they did/didn't copy them, then neither do ebay, and lots of people might try it on in order to get some CDs AND a refund.
There was no accusing going on, merely stating a correct fact, and highlighting why ebay need you to get the fakes verified.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Even if someone were to copy original cds and claim they were sent those copies, to comply with Paypal's request they could take/send the copies to Sony who would confirm they were copies and the claim would then be upheld and the seller/Paypal/Ebay lose out? The buyer would get their money back and still have the originals by sending the copies back to the seller who would find it very difficult to prove they initially sent originals, plus receive an unjustified negative in the process.
So, yes Paypal/Ebay are the incompetents here and shooting themselves in the foot with a nonsense requirement. Most people, sellers and buyers, are honest so in taking a small financial hit because of a dishonest seller they (Paypal/Ebay) would earn more credibility surely.
I agree with the OP that it's been made inconvenient for the buyer so that Ebay/Paypal keep their fees and don't lose out in any way.0 -
Wasn't accusing anyonedancingdoll wrote: »Sounds like an accusation to me.0 -
If they are clearly pirate copies, surely reporting it to the police and getting a crime number would be the correct thing to do? Paypal surely can't argue if you have evidence of a crime?0

To be honest how do we know the OP didn't copy the CDs.dancingdoll wrote: »Sounds like an accusation to me.
No, it's just questioning that we (or anyone else, including ebay) wouldn't know if the OP (or anyone) had copied the CDs themselves.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

Did you contact the seller? I bought a CD set of a BBC radio serial which turned not only to be a completely undisguised copy (rewriteable CDs with the title written on in marker, clear plastic wallet, no attempt to make them look legit) but they had burnt them in the wrong format, so I got MP3s! I just contacted the seller through ebay, told them how unimpressed I was, and said I would report them to the police and BBC if they didn't refund my money inc postage. Got the whole lot back within a few days, left bad feedback stating that I had had to ask for my money back and why, and never had to deal with Paypal at all.
I know it's not ideal, and that Paypal do make you jumpt through hoops to prove the point, but sometimes a word in the ear of those who are actually responsible for the moody goods works wonders- you can stil pursue the case with Ebay if they want help to stamp out people using the service for this kind of thing, but at least you stand a better chance of getting your money back!0 -
