You can do what you like if you aren't using credit.

    Thanks, FYP.

That's exactly how I read the rules re trading. I'm going to bounce a couple of scenarios off the OR and see what he says. Nearly all instructors are self-employed and most work under franchise to a bigger school (BSM, AA, Local City SOM, etc.). So I'm going to check if I could do that. Legally, as a sole trader, even if I worked for BSM, I would still be trading as "OhDear" through BSM. I'll still check with OR exactly how any advertising etc. needs to be worded. (I don't want to work for BSM! I've done that thankyou!) It's the OR that needs to know, not everyone else.

Re: Gross vs. net figures, I'm going to have both sets of figures in front of me, so whatever I'm asked I will have the answers in front of me.:o

I think I need to get a bigger dining table!:D

Your OR probably won't be able to give you that kind of advice and if you're a sole trader you can advertise however you see fit.

I took in all my paperwork to OR's office yesterday and met my examiner! She just checked that I was still ok for today. I think she she came across as more nervous than me. Maybe she thought I had gone in personally to "have a word". I'm sure they get some people being totally unreasonable through stress.

Anyway, I think by the time 2pm comes, I will have everything I need laid out on the dining table. ChelseaBun is taking a half day, to come and hold my hand!:D

I think I'm fairly well prepared and I suspect that she (OR not CB:D) will want to delve further back into debt history. As 2 large USLs were debt consolidation, I may need to proove that! I'll let you all know how it goes.

  • Hi all, thanks for your good wishes.

It's a phone interview, Sunk, thank goodness! I don't think OD could be more prepared, but we're both worried that our spending over the past few years will be frowned on. I know everyone worries about that! How do you find what you spent 500 quid on in 2001?? I hope they won't go back that far!! We'll let you know - thanks for all your support, guys. CBx

Good luck OD, I know how daunting this part is, but the OR caught me off guard by just calling me the Monday after being in court the previous Wedneday. I had half hour to calm myself before he called back.

I hope yours goes as well as mine did, I simply replied truthfully, and he was very pleasant.

Hope to hear from you both later.
