The Great DS Lite hunt

  • The one on ebay probably has a ds linker (or similar) loaded with games. There's nothing wrong with it, they work fine. I find that they are better for children, as they don't have to keep on changing (and losing) the games.

It might work but that wouldn't make it legal to sell them unless the original games cartridges were included too though, would it..?

Although actually this auction claims "each game is in an individual cartridge..." - it just neglects to say they are the original games.

18 games and a console, and the winning bidder just won them at £142 including delivery from China. What are the chances of getting a genuine console and original games...

Oh wait, small print alert... "boxes and instructions for the games will not be included"... how curious, same for the other 6 identical lots they have up... and they're all private bids so you can't see how many others they knocked out recently... I hope no-one here was the 'lucky' winner!

I bought a 'New' DS with games from Hong Kong last year on ebay hoping for a bargain. I got a badly refurbished one with dim screen and copy games. Neither ebay/paypal did not support my claim for a refund and said I could send them back (at my expense) recorded delivery to Hong Kong for a refund. My advice is to avoid - better off getting second hand from UK.

I thought I was playing safe as the seller had good feedback - dont know how he managed that selling second hand resprayed goods in replica boxes.
  • I need to get my little girl a Pink DS Lite for Christmas. BUT, she only wants Nintendogs Chihuahua which isn't one which you can buy as a bundle deal. So, can anyone recommend a good price for a good bundle deal which is suitable for a girly 4 year old, or does anyone have any good disount codes which I could use to buy the additional game. Does anyone have any experience of buying a DS lite and games from the US? Do they work ok here?
Many many thanks for any help

I've looked online and you can get the pink ds lite with acessories pack and walle for £104.99 from game (or if you just want the console its £99.99 from hmv )
And nintendogs chihuahua & friends is £24.99 at hmv & its actually in stock most places dont seem to have any in!

Bringing you total to £129.98 for pink ds lite, 2 games & acessory pack
Or £124.98 for just console & nintendogs

I wouldnt wait too long to get your console as if the last 2 yrs are anything to go by pink ds lites will be in high demand and very difficult to get the nearer you get to christmas!

For reasons such as this, I didn't want to purchase a DS from ebay, despite people on the MSE forum 'encouraging' me to do so after my recent experience with Tesco.

I ordered mine(pink) from Tesco(Jersey).com on the 14th Nov. They had them in stock when I ordered & they confirmed, several hours later they emailed to say they didn't. They told me I'd have to wait till 3rd Dec for stock, but looking on the site it now states that they are out of stock & won't be able to get any more stock from the supplier! I'm now very doubtfull as to whether they will actually fulfill my order at all!

There's no way the 18 games offered as 'free gifts' with that eBay auction are genuine..! Buyer beware. (It will end over £100 anyway).

Wonder if all the bidders have noticed the buyer is based in China.

I have bought 2 now from China. One a few months ago, got the metalic pink Ds, case, accessories and a load of game boy games. Arrived no problem at all, paid £97. Came about a week later, in perfect condition.

Bought another one last week, again from China. A pink nintendogs one. Loads of games, case and accessories. Paid £89 inc delivery. Arrived this week and is perfect

If not as described, or not arrived at all, I would have instantly opened a dispute with paypal....

Dixons are doing the consol for £95 delived, use code SAVE5.
Game bundles from £104 for new, and £89 pre-owned.
Toys r us £149 for bundle including 4 games of your choice.
HMV, stock arrives in 21 days, bundle £99 and includes a Game.

Good luck with that. In my experience UK ebay/paypal wash their hands and pass over to the overseas branch. They make a unilateral decision on the case - for me that meant I had to return the faulty item at my expense recorded delivery for a refund of what I paid. I wouldnt have got much change back after P+P. All the policies sound nice but with no independent body or the realistic option of a small claims court it may not amount to much.

Last weekend, I bought a red DS with big brain academy with another game (there was a choice of 3) for £114.99 from GAME. We were told it was the last red one.

Sounds a bargain with loads of games. But original games or pirate copies?
