What about buying it from additions and using the £30 discount code to get it to 69.99, that's what I was planning on doing until I realised I've already used Additions and am not a new cus.icon9.gif

The only problem with this is that although they are showing as available - all the delivery dates are after Christmas so no good if you're buying it as a Christmas pressie

Slightly underhand perhaps but Argos have consoles at £99.97.

I suggest buying a £100 gift card & getting a £10 gift card until tomorrow.

Buy a DS Lite & cheap filler item to take you over £100.

Pay with your 2 giftcards from above & get another £10 voucher.

Net cost around £80, I can't see anything cheaper at the moment, but would be happy to be proved wrong as my brother is looking for one too.

Could Bargainaholic (or anyone) please explain this for me in idiots terms, I really don't get it. You are saying you end up paying just over £80 (assuming you buy a couple of batteries or something) for a ds lite from Argos? Do you get left with a load of vouchers that you don't really want or something?

    Thanks.
  • The idea is when you buy a £100 gift card they will give you a free £10 gift card. You then pay for the DS and something else to take you over £100 and get another £10 gift card. This means that you effectively pay £90 for the DS and have a £10 gift card to spend on something else.

However, gift cards should not be given out when the customer pays with gift cards (depends on if the person on the till knows this). Also if you needed to return the console you would only get gift cards back, not cash.

This is mainly irrelevent though as consoles can only be returned if faulty.
Hope that this clears it up for anyone wondering.

I must not be getting something, is it the case that any purchase over £100 (not just when buying a gift card worth £100) results in the buyer receiving a £10 voucher?
  • Yes, for a limited time only, ends today but will be repeated, everytime you spend £50 or more you get a £5 giftcard, everytime you spend £100 or more you get a £10 giftcard.

With sales tax and the exchange rate at the moment the savings are not as good as they used to be. They are retailing for around $130 so with the exchange of $1.50 no cheaper than getting one here with a free game for £95.
