I have cancelled now my interview for tomorrow, cause I obviously dont want a purely sales job with "an average" earning of 1,200 /m. But I also must say, if you can read between the lines you dont have to fall for every scam out there. Promissing s.b. to be "an owner" and earning 100k after the first year is a kinda obvious sales trap, e.g.
But thx everybody for pointing these companies out on this site,
and keep staying aware of the wording of ads!!

I came across this thread via another forum, which is useful as it lists all the company names that are scams/related to the companies mentioned in this thread. http://tomcat4.prospects.ac.uk:8080/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3338
I received a phone call today from a girl who got my name wrong, muttered the whole time and I had to ask 3 times what the name of the company was to understand what she was saying. I didn't get a very good impression at that point. She said her boss had asked her to call me to invite me in for an interview for a management role. I asked what the package was/details of the role. She said she didn't know. I told her without that information I was unable to establish if I was interested or not and didn't want to waste theirs or my time. I suggested she found out and emailed me. I then immediately got the email below.
"As a company we deal with Direct Marketing and Sales for our clients. We do any types of marketing campaigns that our clients require from Business to Consumer (B2C) which can be Residential, also Business to Business (B2B) and even Events based. The reason we select these form of marketing is they are proven to be the most cost effective and reliable for the type of clients that we work with. As a business we have complaints just like any other major company, unfortunately we cannot control or monitor what people write on the internet, forums or blogs.
What we are trying to achieve here at AMM Direct is to take someone from a graduate level (ground level) into more of a managerial role within a 6-12 month period. As you can probably understand this will not be an easy task, but it’s definitely achievable which we have proven before and constantly continuing with. Therefore it will be very intense, and a lot to learn and take on board in this period of time, so it will not suit everyone and not everyone is willing to put in the time, hard work and dedication needed to achieve this.
If you do think that you would be a suitable candidate for the position and are looking for progression then don’t hesitate to give us a call or send us an email.
AMM Direct is not affiliated with any other company and it stands on its own."
Thank you

I replied and again said that without the appropriate details, I could not consider the role.
The reply I received to that was:-
The job is a full time position and as far as the client and pay – Im not given any of that information.
The interview is only a 10-20 minute chat so the manager can get to know you a little and see how he can incorporate you into his business.
Regards
Sian
I have replied and said that any "professional" company would provide these details up front so as not to waste anyone's time and without it, I cannot consider the role. I doubt I will hear any further.
Another one to be aware of!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
I was taken in by this about 9 years ago, and it seems things haven't changed at all. I would urge moneysavers to keep naming these companies on here . I now work helping vulnerable young people into work and time and time again have seen them taken in by these scoundrels, signed off all benefits and made to work 12 hour days, only to leave less than a month later having nothing to show for it! It's got to the stage where I've taken to calling these companies myself and haranguing the reception staff!0

My son has recently been scammed by a company in Leicester called UK Acquisitions. It is run by a slimy couple called Chris Dixon and Samantha Walker. He worked for 3 weeks and was never paid a penny for all the effort and hours he put in. He was sent out on his own around neighbourhoods he didn't know trying to sell insulation for lofts and cavity walls. He used every single penny up from his last payment of jobseekers to pay for travel on buses(which his boss said he would reimburse but didn't). They did all the stupid 'juice' stuff and hi 5's. The boss and his girlfriend are from Nottingham but have obviously decided to scam the people of Leicester. My son was told he had to say he worked for an insulation company called Miller Pattison and even had a name badge with it on and also a hi vis vest with it on. I'm at a loss what to do as he has lost money and his first experience of a proper job is a totally depressing let down for him. How can these companies do this to innocent people? Why don't they get caught? Any advice would be welcome as I don't want other people to get scammed.0

I too was contacted by these people MONSTER MARKETING, as well as SOURCE MARKETING. I dont think they are scams but what I do think is that they are deliberately vague. They won't tell you what the "jobs" entail or that you're paid on a commission only basis. They advertise the posts like they are offering a job. If they were more open then people would trust them more. They are totally unrealistic about earnings capability because their job is to get you to work for them and earn them commissions. steer clear if you dont want to sell stuff on the street or door-to-door, something which these people fail to mention purposefully of course0

Its not OFFICIALLY counted as a SCAM!!!
I applied for 'customer service/account rep' throught total jobs for a company called PARKER WORLDWIDE. I was contacted on the monday for a tuesday interview (which I had to cancel for personal reasons) I tried two or three times daily ( for a week, to call and email them in attempt to rearrange my interview - no reply and constant voicemail no matter which option I selected!
The following week I was contacted on the saturday for a Monday interview.....! When I attempted to call them straight back, AGAIN no way to get through to speak to anyone. I visited the business address (on the main street, small doorway little temporary sign above a door) and decided to look further into the business before going for the interview.
Ironically the business director actually has numerous articles warning about marketing job scams warning not to give money up front etc...!
Eventually I found a student sight with an article from another potential interviewee asking about PARKER WORLDWIDE, the reply was EXTREMELY HELPFUL:Personally, I would not recommend attending their interviews; they are rushed, the company appear desperate (from the number of adverts/number of candidates they have), and they are hesitant to dislose information about your salary until after the "2nd interview".Joining this company means commission based pay and self-employment. That means you have to work very hard to receive your earningsThe management thrive on hard-work by taking cuts out of your earnings. They may mention a business development programme (BDP); this is designed to fast-track you toward management, due to their recent growth What they don't make you aware of, however, is that once you finish the BDP, you are expected to manage and run your own office.Sounds great, right? Wrong. You are now expected to run and manage everything involved with your Parker Worldwide office - including liabilities. That means, if you go under, that's your problem. What's more, "4%" of your earnings go to the wallets of the people running the show. So unlike a normal franchise - where you have the financial backing and support of the original company, using their successful products - you instead end up with no successful product and money-hungry individuals watching their wallet grow fatter, taking your hard earned cash.Okay, they provide you with the clients, I'll give you that, but they fund your training from what you earn.So to sum up, you pay for your own training (through your work), they fast-track you to earning them more money (from the cut they take), and as a limited company, you are solely responsible for your debt, employee wages, everything. As a new graduate, this is really risky, and I wouldn't advise it. They set you up to harvest your hard work and eager determination and no doubt let you drown if you don't.Steer clear.
BUT REMEMBER:You are classed as self employed - you have to sort your own tax, NI etc!
Your trainning is deducted from your earnings
A chunk of your earnings is deducted by the company
If you fail - its YOU WHO FAILS not the company
No financial backing
No guarenteed income
Commision worked on a daily basis - not in work NO WAGES.
PLEASE JUST BE AWARE OF WHAT YOUR ACTUALLY GETTING INTO!!!!! :wall::doh:
THE RISK IS ALL YOURS!! :eek:0 -
no they aren't scams... but you are self employed... actually your not really self employed... cause the manager has to put in the money for you... but you do become self employed when you reach management stage 4 or 50

I was tempted to call them, but I shant bother now.
Yes you should. I worked for them in Australia and earnt a load of money. The training is fantastic and the way the system works is great. It is all commision based but the harder you work the more you earn and you will always get good/great money0 -

I just thought i'd give them a call as an interested applicant.
Made the lady sweat a little i think as i quickly brought into the conversation the FUGIs and 5 steps etc. I've already been conned by these guys so it's nice to use their own techniques on them every now and then.
I proceeded to ask if it was commission, door to door sales, blah blah.
I say everyone on this thread should call one company and use the same script just for the laughs.
Thinking about it, it would be pretty awesome to call up and try to sell them printer toner or something like that.
Hey, they can five step us, why can't we do it back?0 -
My brother has just been offered a job with one of these companies.
Same old story - Applied on Thursday, 1st Interview on Friday and 2nd interview yesterday. He spent the whole day door to door trying to get people to donate £2.50 a week to the RSPCA.
When he got home I asked about wages etc and he didn't have a clue except he'd been told for every sign up he would get £100!!
He was considering taking the job and had started to believe their hype.
Glad I found this as he has 2 interviews today with similar companies!
The first company he has been offered the job with is called Double Impact and are based in London.Lightbulb moment Dec 2005 - debt £23700
June 2010 - £17984.210
