My son has been unemployed for some time and applied for two jobs yesterday via Gumtree for bar work. Today he received a call responding to his cv's and asked him to attend an interview tomorrow. The lady he spoke to was very, very pleasant. She very kindly sent a confirmation email to attend the interview at 10:30 the following day which asked him to dress smart/business like. He then asked her to specify which bar job it referred to as he had applied to two bars. She did not reply. I then took him to buy something 'business like' to wear. Alarm bells started to ring so I did some research and fell upon this thread. The address...... Platinum and Co, [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM].
I'm unsure whether the advert he responded to is part of the scam or whether Platinum and Co are able to access the cv's my son submitted to genuine advertisements. Either way, pretty damn low of Platinum and Co. Being unemployed for him is a depressing and demoralising. Being offered an interview is what he hopes for all the time. Although it has knocked him once again at least he has some nice gear if he is lucky enough to get a genuine interview.0 -

CHEAT, !!!!!!!!,
Advice:
1: Trust your instincts.
2: Research companies on the internet before attending interviews and look at various forums.
3: Try to use logic and common sense and don't take what they say for face value.
4: Always suspect the worst if you are unsure.
5: Don't panic just go along with it until your safe.
6: Be skeptical if they always call you using mobile phone numbers instead of landlines, proves they don't have a permeant place of operations.
7: If they look at your CV and disregard your education/qualifications and go straight into what they want you to do.0 -

Anyone heard of these guys, Green Global Acquisitions? Are they in the same category as the above marketing jokers?
Got an email from them today saying:
Dear XXX,
Congratulations on being selected to attend our first meetings with our applicants on 14/01/2013 at 2:45 PM.
On arrival at our office you will be required to complete a brief enquiry form. You will then have a fairly informal appointment with one of our managers, where you will be asked to provide an insight into your previous roles and responsibilities and how those experiences could benefit our company. You will also be given an outline of the history of our company, the services we provide for our clients and where you could fit in to our goals for the future.
It would be preferable if you could provide a paper copy of your CV at reception along with your enquiry form.
Also this:Finally, on arrival at our premises please use the buzzer entitled "Marketing Suite" to enter the building

A quick search shows that Green Global Acquisitions are advertising on a number of websites for jobs such as this http://www.totaljobs.com/JobSeeking/Charity-Fundraiser-Wanted---Leeds_job55413986 and this http://www.totaljobs.com/JobSeeking/Marketing--Sales-Assistant-Wanted-Graduates-Welecome-Leeds-LS1_job55413977
The first job is for a chugger and the second is a door to door sales role, so I would say that yes they are just another dodgy marketing company.
They also have absolutely no web presence of their own - the only results on Google are the various job posts and a few forum posts questioning their legitimacy.0 -
Thanks for that gb12345. You just confirmed my suspicions more solidly! Guess I'll avoid!
The lack of a web site of any kind raises doubts about this company also!0 -
Was walking past Red Five's Southampton office the other day, and surprisingly enough they've changed their name again - this time to '8 Global Solutions'.
Let's make it clear that this is just Red Five/Parker Worldwide/Powerhouse in disguise, and nothing's changed. Hopefully people will see this thread before wasting any time or money on:

Couldn't post the website link here but it's easy enough to find on search engines, literally just the stuff from their older sites cut and pasted onto a slightly flashier backdrop...still disgusts me just as much.
So glad I researched afterwards. Thank you sp2301 especially. Thought about calling them back to cancel the interview, but why bother? Let them wait.Haikus are easy
But sometimes they don't make sense

Just got a call from them, inviting me to an interview tomorrow, while I'm high strung waiting to hear back from an employer I want to work for. The woman talked very quickly, and what was really suspicious was when she asked if I wanted to work towards a management position, and I said "er, potentially?" (I don't), she wasn't at all deterred.

Hi guys, here is another one I have found recently with the same address. My friend told me about her interview and it sounded very familiar.
Fast progression, 5-9 months, phases 1-4 then managerial role etc..
Mystyle marketing.
It should be the same group of people.. These guys need to be SHUT DOWN
Please search on google as I cannot post links, apologies since I'm a new user.
