Potterton Suprima 50 Lock Out problem
Comments

Having same problem in that boiler red light comes on randomly at no particular time, no particular weather. This has been happening for a couple of years now - every part of the system seems to have been replaced (valves, pump etc) but still happens (though not through the summer when timer was for "water only"). Ours is a Kingfisher model, installed six years ago. When it first went in we had to have several call outs to rectify problems. Any advice from anyone and any recommendation as to engineer in West London or Surry - Potterton use contractors I believe any use going to them)?0

Potterton would send out one of the Heat Team employees, not a contractor.
I think they charge £299 for a one off repair, then a further years warranty.0 -
We have the same lockout problem on the suprima 50l and have the Heatteam plan @ £289. So far we have had two engineer visits and they have managed to make the lockout problem worse! They have replaced parts and suggested problems, but haven't fixed anything. I'm phoning them tomorrow and if they don't fix it telling them to get to! Anyone know a decent replacement for this model?0

Hope the following helps someone.
I have a 2-3 year old Potterton 50 HE boiler and had a lock-up problem for ages. I was getting a water circulation error indication every 5 minutes and the boiler would lock-up for a couple off minutes and start agai for another 5 minutes and so on. I went through a lot of troubleshooting and money spending and frustration. I tried changing the PCB, power flushing the system, changing the sensors, changing the pump, nothing helped. All the professionals were just going through the procedure the manual recommended without any success.
ANyway to cut a long story short, a more senior engineer came and called the manufacturer (for the 3rd time) and got through to someone that advised that these boilers are very sensitive and need carefull finetuning at the sensors. So the guy fiddled with the sensors and got it sorted. It now works. Occasionally I wil get some error code for the flow thermistor but overall it works.0 -
the pcb replacement business in watford is pure gold..when replacing pcb always replace electrode as less than £10 and even easier to fit than the pcb ! pcb is impossible to fit incorrectly just ensure you turn of the power at fuse board...stay warm guys0

I wonder if anyone can help me.
I've got a Suprima 50L which was Installed in 2006 and and been running perfectly until recently.
I turned the boiler off whilst I had some work done on the central heating... a new radiator fitted during our ensuite installation. (Up until I turned the boiler off it was working perfectly).
At the weekend I refilled the central heating system, added inhibitor and bled all the radiators.
I then turned the boiler on, and it begins it start up sequence and then just starts flashing red at me. I've tried pressing the reset button (holding for 10 secs as per the manual) but it doesn't seem to reset.
Have I missed a stage out after refilling the central heating system? Can't see why something that was working fine 1 month ago, is now not working when I turn it on?
TIA

Could possibly be an air lock in the system.
Did you have any zone valves set to manually open when you filled the system?0 -

Hi all,
I am looking for some advice please. I have a Suprima 50L and recently had the PCB replaced by Heat Team due to experiencing the lock outs.
Unfortunately the lock out issue has not been solved and I get lock outs which do not follow any particular pattern. It can be day or night, hours or days after boiler reset.
When the boiler is running, the water and rads are hot. However the pump seems to be over running (sometimes 2-3 hrs after CH and HW have turned off).
Any ideas from anyone? Up until now I have spent near £850 on the Heat Team repair plan, and a replacement flue. The pump was replaced three years ago.
I plan on calling Heat Team again as part of my repair plan, but I exect this may not solve the issue as the engineers wait until the boiler fires up and assume it's working. Days or hours after the engineer has left, the lock out returns
Thanks
Oliver

I plan on calling Heat Team again....
However, seeing as how they are the Baxi Service Division they really ought to know what is wrong or how to find out whats wrong.
I'd be tempted to a) speak to someone at a senior level in Heatteam and insist they send someone who really knows what he is doing with the beastie and/or b) get a local indie recommended by a trusted source to give it the once over.
