There are loads of these devices on eBay, mostly cheaper than this one, and I very much doubt they do the job better than a decent pizza stone in your oven, plus you need another spare work surface in your kitchen.

I have a pizza stone as well. It's one of these posh Pampered Chef ones but we got it as a present. Also use it to cook things like scones, cookies etc on.Fluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

I bought the pizza maker about 9 months ago from Lakeland and I certainly wouldn't be without it. It is fairly big and sits out on the work top along with my Remoska.
I have a DS who is 16 and seemed always to be making HM pizzas for him and his friends. My problem was that, although I had a good pizza tray, I would have to pre-heat the oven, spend 10 minutes cooking the underside of the base, then turn the pizza over put on the toppings and then put it in the oven for another 10 minutes - so even if I was making only one pizza the oven would be on for 30 minutes. Now each pizza takes about 5 minutes to cook and I can do one or ten and feel that I am hardly using any energy. I love it and the pizzas are delicious.0 -

It'd just be another gadget cluttering up a kitchen. The reason I looked was because it takes me 30 minutes to heat up my oven to cook a pizza, which is annoying and expensive on fuel. But at £45 it's not worth saving that time/cost.0 -

I know it seems expensive for something that you could use the oven for but you could say the same thing about the Remoska.
It takes about 30 minutes for my oven to come up to temperature and then another 15 minutes or so to cook a pizza so I would save both time and money on the fuel costs, my electric meter blinks like crazy when the oven is on. We have HM pizza about once a week and my DS works late so the oven is normally on twice, it would be much easier to stick it in the pizza oven.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
I also wonder about the energy saving aspect of it - would be really interested to hear peoples experiences of what these cost to run. Oven needs to be on at a minimum for 30 mins, normally more like 45 to heat the stones through enough and then cook the pizzas. It's okay if I can cook something else alongside to make it worthwhile heating the oven but I do feel bad about using all that energy just for two pizzas...it's I think about 1kwh (or 17p) per use..0

I saw these and was quite tempted a while ago ( theyve had a version in argos for a couple of years)
However, OH got a pizza stone last Xmas nad weve never looked back. He got his in a gift set ( either boots or john lewis) with olives/ tomatoes/ cutter and was about 20 quid.
Someone was doing this on tv ( was it jamie) and used a paving slab instead of the stone.
The good thing about this option is that you can make any size - up to the slab size obv) as opposed to the small ones that these pizza makers make.
Im really not convinced, reminds me of things like popcorn makers, ok if you dont have a oven- but totally pointless if you do.:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

I'd forgotten all about this thread till I posted on another one about pizza dough, so a long overdue update ...
I've tried every way of making pizza over the years, stones, a cooker with a small top & bottom heating oven, pre-heated baking trays etc etc & apart from having a dedicated pizza oven built (I know someone who has one in their yard, jealous) you name it, I've tried it
my pizzas were always pretty good, but the ones that the pizza maker produces are in a totally different class, they are fabulousI also use it for making pitas & they turn out better too
I think it's the combination of top & bottom heat, the stone & the very high temperature (it gets hotter than a normal domestic oven can)
I'm a total convert0
