My Money Saving Diary

I don't have a massive debt, but it's there and i'm currently unemployed, living on JSA and my overdraft.

This diary is to motivate me and keep track of whatever positive money saving things I do.

Positive Stuff:

* 2 washes with soapnuts, put on drier
* £10 made from craft fair, put in treat jar
* £12.99 - coat sold on ebay
* £3.50 - pair of shoes sold on ebay
* Leftovers dinner

Negative:

*Had to throw away batch of soup that was off
* Spent about £10 on ebay

Profit:

£5.99
£1600 overdraft
£100 Christmas Fund

    Positive Stuff:

    * Corset sold on ebay for £4.99
    * £13 cashback from topcashback.co.uk for signing up to Lovefilm (figure its cheaper to stay in and watch dvd's rather than go clubbing)
    * Washed reds with soapnuts and put on drier
    * Did well at grocers - got a bag of mushrooms, a bag of apples, a baking potato and a bag of sweet peppers for £3.05
    * Got books out for free entertainment
    * Got budget pasta for 43p in Somerfield
    * Posted two ebay items
    * convinced myself to do ironing as an easy way to keep warm
    * Rewarded myself with Cafetiere coffee and a piece of cake (made by a friend)

    Negative:

    * Spent £.4.99 on ebay
    * Splurged in Somerfield - bought orange juice, smoothie and milk, which came to £5.20!

    Thanks Piquant! My biggest problem is that boredom sets in and I end up spending my ebay profits on.... well, ebay :confused: I need some self control!

    As for Ebay - it's addictive I know. But tracking your earnings and keeping spreadsheets and stuff will motivate you and stop you getting bored enough to spend. I won't if you won't LOL!

    I ahve set up a spreadsheet, mainly because I'm selling stuff for a mate who's away (and needs the money lol) which does help....when i look at it :)

    But she has some lovely stuff which is selling quickly and bringing business to my ebay shop, and i may well take my comission in clothing, which might cut my addiction :)

    Good idea to take clothing in commission if it's stuff you really like and will wear! You could then sell some of your current clothing on ebay, sort of work on the one item in, one item out principle. Might buy you some space in your wardrobe :D 'specially if it's anything like mine :rolleyes:

    * Rejected for another job
    * Got a really nasty cold
    * Really cannot be arsed to iron
