  • MFW 274's first post!

I've found this board such an encouragement! It's amazing seeing everyone's stories it is really encouraging me to plow as much into the mortgage as possible ( although thats not a lot) I work 2 part time jobs at the moment. 1 pays the bill and living cost along with OH salary. The other job is very unpredictable regarding shifts, this is our savings/rainy day/frivilous expenses money. However January was great as I had more shifts than expected and got a pay rise ( I wasn't expecting the pay rise to take effect until 01Feb so a nice suprise in my jan pay packet!) so have OP the extra earnings off the mortgage. I can't wait until march now to see what can be OP there!

  • Woop! Sold some of my freebie company shares and made £1295

Total outstanding mortgage debt now 16.9K and another number crossed off the wine bottle
I've been off the booze since January 1st until the mortgage has gone for three reasons. 1. Save money 2. Feel better 3. Give me a reason to get rid of the mortgage (boy, could I sink a pint right now). Hasn't helped that I swapped some Virgin airmiles for a mixed case of wine due for delivery this week.

Managed to rack up £800 worth of work expenses on one of my 0% credit cards which I'll use to offset some more of the mortgage. Should be 100% offset again within a few weeks.

I'm bringing my mortgage free target date forward to August the 15th.

    Good luck everyone!
  • Well done to everyone for all their overpayments!! :)

During January, I got round to setting up the standing order to go out on the 1st of each month - so a £30.00 overpayment winged it's way over on 1st Feb!! Yay. Plan is to see what spare I have a couple of days pre-end of month, and adjust the standing order accordingly...!

And, I have a mortgage moo to open in April (1 year since it began) to see how my change collection has gone... I'm hoping for a fiver! :)

Yesterday I discovered that the "year" for my overpayments is the calendar year, and doesn't correspond with my mortgage statements :o Normally this would be academic as I wouldn't have expected to reach the maximum OP anyway...but for 2009 my max total overpayment is £7,311.

Given the interest rate reductions this should be just about do-able if I try hard, so I've decided to increase my 2009 target from £6,000 to £7,311 :D:j

Still hoping for another sneaky overpayment in Feb, so I'll PM Zavarony with my month's total and my new target at the same time, just wanted to commit myself publicly before I change my mind :D
  • second overpayment of £150 made this year so far! :T
