  • removed... wrong link sorry...
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • it may be that your PC is actually talking to the router using wireless, instead of directly using the cable.

if you disable the wireless temporarily, in the router config screen, click apply, connect the ethernet lead and then do this..

    Start , run, cmd

    then type

    ipconfig /release

    then

    ipconfig /renew

it will drop any wireless connection and talk using the wired connection..

which is essential to do an upgrade..

  • hold on a minute, don't do the upgrade, need to check it's the right version first!!

Sorry I misled you, don't use the link I posted as that's for V3!!!!

and you are right, the V1 is a bin file...

  • are you sure you don't have V2 , which looks similar, as that download is a .img file, rather than a .bin..

This version is silver, smaller, and does not have a detachable antenna.

    I'm hoping you haven't done a V3 upgrade, as you've gone quiet!!
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • Yes!! I have got version 2, What made me think it was one I dont know!! I went quiet because it went off again. Ok start again, I'll wire it back up and do the version 2 upgrade
  • You had me panicking then..

If you haven't already, read and digest this first..

NOTE: You MUST clear the configuration after upgrading (either by using the default button on the rear panel or the Erase button in the Backup Settings menu) and reenter your configuration information manually. Write down all of your configuration information before upgrading.

You can upgrade by using the Web interface Router Upgrade menu.

Open a browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape).
    Access the router (usually http://192.168.0.1).
Log in to the router (User Name = admin and Password = password unless you changed it).
Write down all settings that you have entered during configuration.
    Under Maintenance, click Router Upgrade.
Click Browse and locate the upgrade file for your router.
    Click Upload.
Wait for the router to reboot.
Under Maintenance, click Settings Backup, then click Erase.
Wait for the router to reboot.
    Manually enter your configuration information.
For problems after upgrading, clear the router again, as Steps 9 - 10 above, and reconfigure.
