How about a stew with dumplings?0

What about curry. You can always get chickens on offer 2 for £5. Big pan of chicken curry and rice or even jacket pots done on the bonfire! Another cheap meal we like is BBQ chicken drumsticks (which again can be bought really cheaply) with rice or wedges. If you want the sauce recipe let me know.0

We always have a family bonfire. The person hosting fills the oven with jacket spuds and then afew different people bring slow cookers full of food, normally veg curry, scouse and chill -con- carneySorting my life out one day at a time0

thanks - they all sound great so far! what is scouse though??0

Definitely chilli con carne - huge big bowl will be pretty cheap to make - especially if you bulk out with veggies and kidney beans. Serve with toasted pittas, baked potatoes and tortilla chips and some grated cheese and plain yoghurt. All cheap, filling and warming - yum!The Best Things in Life Are Free0

Sorry
Scouse is basically the Liverpool version of stew, normally traditonally made with lamb although in our house it tends to be pot luck used up Sunday roast leftovers padded out with some mince or if I'm feeling rich stewing steak. Actually stewing steak and lamb make a lovely combination to feed visitors.Sorting my life out one day at a time0 -
BBQ burgers and sausages?? Think of it as the last chance for the year, thats what we always do. Everyone will be cold anyways outside so the BBQ will help and warm up an area0
