Parkin would be choice for something traditional and sweet for Bonfire Night.

What are everyone's plans this year? I'm co-hosting again with the same friend. So I'm doing a soup (leek & pot or fridge vegetable) then a beef stew and mash (a number of the guests are quite picky). Mulled wine and mulled apple juice to wash it down. Someone else is doing the pud :)

Hotdogs or pie n peas is our staple bonfire grub. And Parkin pigs. And lots of steaming hot tea.

We're having a quiet night at home on Saturday night for bonfire night with just OH, his daughter and me, but he will be doing copious amounts of fireworks in the garden! I will be making nachos for starters/snacks and a big pot of chilli con carne with rice, a Mexican inspired salad for health, and pumpkin pie for afters (perhaps not very bonfire nighty but it feels right for this time of year!). I may do some mulled cider with some weak cider and OH's daughter can have a little bit with us as she is 16 and a half. I'm looking forward to it :)

Another one here for chilli with rice/jacket potatoes & hot dogs & french fries for the kids. I'll have about 30 people in my party  and everyone is cooking/brining something like dips, drinks, crisps, cakes for the kids. After the fireworks & bonfire goes down we'll have some pate/cheese with crackers.

Lovely & I just hope the weather stays dry!

    Hi all,,

This year, same group of friends, and they have requested the chocolate brownies I made last year, and the honeycombe.

    We,re having-
spicy chicken wings (cheap at £4 for 3k),
    spare ribs,
    colslaw
Tomato, cheese and pesto filo tart
    Double stuffed potato skins
    HM bread
    Cinnamon buns
    Brownies
    Honeycombe

Whatever your doing, have a fab, safe night xx

  • DS and DD did a cooking and craft activity morning this week and they came home with chocolate sparklers ..... basically chocolate finger biscuits, dip one end into hot water (carefully!) then roll into sprinkles, edible glitter and leave to dry on geaseproof paper. Yum!

May have to make some of those for our bonfire party tomorrow night, I'm going to get them to do fruit kebabs too, with marshmallows added in (saves on the cost of the fruit!)

Adults menu is chicken curry, rice and naan, burgers and for the kids hotdogs, burgers and curly chips.
