About the cough, I make my own elderberry syrup and take some whenever I feel a cold coming on and it seems to help. Boots do an elderberry syrup but it is quite pricey.

Got some fresh veg and some bits and bobs for student DD to take back with her tomorrow.

Need to bake HM rolls in Remoska later so DD(14) has some for school tomorrow. She has been hinting about the second book in a series that she wants and is desperate to read. I pointed out she will have a very sparse Christmas present pile to open if she wants stuff in advance and she looked quite downcast.

She sees the orthodontist tomorrow and if she is quite miserable as a result I might give her the book early to cheer her up (half price at Amazon and free postage, but won't tell her that).

Have just ordered DD(19) a David Attenborough dvd on spiders and insects that she thinks might help her wih her coursework ( should have been £25 and got it for £9.99 and free p&p from play.com)

Must stop spending money, but everytime I think that something comes up that I can justify spending the money on!!!!!

    Afternoon ;)

No bread made, maybe I'll do it after my lesson tomorrow as I don't have to fetch dd from school (teacher ed day). Dd is coming along with me to my French lesson armed with some French worksheets and activities I bought really cheap from an Amazon seller.

I have been up to my nipples in pumpkin this morning:D I now have a large saucepan of pumpkin puree waiting be portioned up for the freezer, 6 bags of diced pumpkin in the freezer. Three leftover pumpkin pasties waiting to be frozen, some leftover pasty filling also for the freezer and a batch of pastry in there too (made double when making pasties).

    PippaS I've pmd you;)

    good Morning All

I made some coffee and walnut muffins last night and ooh they were gorgeous,, I found some muffin mixes in the pantry and thought oh yes I will make these ,,and as I dont like berries I added coffee and walnuts

I also made seedy bread but it didnt mix properly so the seed was at the bottom and it didnt rise properly, it still tastes properly but the seeds are on the bottom and I have to cut them off..
I think I forgot the proper recipe and put too much sugar in

Having a day off today and have just woke up again ,,just had second brekkie which is now lunch ,,

    See you later

KL you've reminded me of a gorgeous walnut muffin recipe in Nigella's Domestic Goddess book. I think they are called Baklava muffins. What you do is half fill the muffin cups with a plain batter then you make a well in them with a spoon and fill with a mixture of melted butter, chopped walnuts, sugar and cinnamon. Then you top with more batter and sprinkle with more chopped nuts, sugar and cinnamon. They are yummy.

Ruby Did you climb the Tor? We did on the side like mountain goats and 3/4 way up discovered a trail. Glastonbury did have odd people :D

yes we did ( and we used the path  :D ), that was the best bit about Glastonbury the views were stunning from up there, although it was bitterley cold, you could see for miles, apparantly one of the local Bishops was hung drawn and quartered up there years ago. We also saw the stone man of Cerne Abbas, who is a giant stone naked (and proud :D ) man carved into the hillside.

    Afternoon all.......

Well its slightly warmer here today........not a great deal but every little helps!

Onto soup news....I made a parsnip and carrot soup this morning and bunged in a teaspoon or 2 of curry powder.....(hot hot stuff for me) and the smells were delish! and I mean delish..........son wanted to know when it would be ready cos he was starving!

I happily let it bubble away for 20/30 mins and then it was done, I then turned around to find other son had turned up to be fed () and he had brought in Grandma and Grandad......who were eagerly sniffing the air........(.) I had to despatch a child off to the shop to get some bread (tut tut.........no BM:rotfl:) ( a step too far) so I served 5 bowls of Pandas Spicy Parsnip Soup up! It went down very well and the large pan I started was more than half empty!

    Hmmmmmmmm

I've done little else today O/S but I feel I've done my bit.
    .
So off I went shopping and stumbled upon the leather back chairs I wanted for the dining room, so picked up 4, took them home and made them up  cor they look good.....

Tea will be a freezer surprise with a veg pillau ricey thingy.

I think a Sunday glass of wine is now called for :j

Nels......soup going well and challenge is ON!

    love to all................xx

Hugs to PP, sorry you have to go to hospital.
Looking forward to hear what you manage to make Thrifty.
Lodger arrived at 2 with her bf, they then went to the local carvery for lunch, he's then going back to London & I'm just hoping she finds her way back here. She paid her rent for the week on arrival, which is good, I hate it when I have to nag for the money.
DS has popped in with his washing, he's saving up for a washing machine, but I'll do his washing for a couple of months, he brought washing powder & fabric softner with him & has offered to pay for the water & electric too, very kind of him, but considering he keeps my car on the road, I told not to worry.
Hubby has 2 days work next week, so we are still ticking over.
    Have a good evening everyone.
    Hugs Hester
