Morning all:hello:
Wet and horrible here too. PippaS I'm from South Brum -Harborne to be precise;)
Well, there are lots of things I should be doing today. I should get a batch of bread done as I won't have time tomorrow due to my French lesson in the middle of the day. Ooh I have an assessment tomorrow I've got to speak about a famous person for 2 mins - I'm doing La Reine;)
I must deal with the pumpkin and maybe make some pastry (for pumpkin pasties like they have on the Hogwarts Express). We'll have them for lunch I think.
Supper tonight will be slow-cooked Chinesey plum pork (I want to use up a jar of plum sauce and some diced pork) I'm going to add carrots, peppers and onions to the pork and serve it with rice. We have leftover cheesecake for pud.
There's boring laundry to deal with too -yawn.
Storecupboard Challenge
Last night I made a list of all the food we have in the house. I've decided to eat it all (not by myself:D ) before buying any more. I'm fed up of buying food we don't need ususally because I've been reading some cookbook or other:rolleyes:
I'm allowing myself these items each week but no more meat, fish, pulses, grains, tins, sauces and flavourings.
milk
butter
eggs
bacon
ham for sandwiches (might get a joint and make it last as long as poss)
cheese
fresh fruit and vegetables
frozen peas -can't manage without these
apple juice for the kids
tea and coffee (these last longer than a week)
flour and other baking supplies like sugar, yeast, baking powder
oats
wine -obviously
These are the things we use up quickly and can't do without. I'll also be replacing the olive oil and sunflower oil when they run out, oh and also my supply of UHT and dried milk so that I can have a constant supply of yogurt.
There now, I've written it down so I can't back out now:)0 -

Made a rapid loaf in the panasonic expecting it would only be good for toast as it only took two hours and the family have nearly demolished it all allready.
Dough for bread rolls is in the panny and spiced chicken thighs are in the slow cooker, still need to prepare batter for yorkies but have parboiled potatoes and parsnips ready to go in the Remoska later.
Need to pop out for some veg soon for lunch later and few bits and pieces for DDs.
Hug to pennypincher and anyone else facing hospital etc.

Morning all :hello:
Roast chicken for dinner here too.. I've been on here a while, trawling for recipes. I'm planning the food for Christmas week, as I will have guests here I want to spend time with rather than being tied to the cooker.
Thriftlady - please will you share the pumpkin pasty recipe? I wonder if we can come up with a totally Hogwarts - inspired menu? Or other literary inspired menus? I for one am always hungry when reading Tolkein, I always start wanting bacon and fresh bread or honey cakes

Thinking of you PP for hosp tomorrow.
Congrats on your new little family member Sistercas - and what a beautiful name your neice has chosen.
I've been to \tesco for a few things and managed to get over charged so will go back later when I'm out with doggies.
Sun lunch today is left over chicken from yesterday, including left over veg which will be zapped. |I know there isn't as much nutritional value in them 2nd time round but very money saving!
Need to have a tidy up as back to w*rk tomorrow after a really lovely week off.
Will try to have a round up of stuff to put to charity shop. I have been down sizing for a while so it's more difficult to find things to put out now.
I have had a horrible chesty cough for a few days now. Any OS cures? I have had to resort to hot toddies at bedtime yum yum.
(((hugs))) to those feeling low and under the weather.

Afternoon all, just back from bootsale, got quite a few bargains today so i am happy, that's my fix till next week!
Had two great nights out at Halloween parties, Friday was spent with DD1 and we had a great laugh and a bit too much to drink. We were both like zombies last night at our Country and Western club where over 150 people turned up, all dressed in Halloween outfits with kids in tow. We took GS1 and we all had a really good time. Sixteen of us went down by minibus and the poor drivers face was a picture.
No lunch today as DH and i have had sausage sandwiches at booty, and we are going to MIL for tea so i will do roast chicken tomorrow.
Have been asked by some friends to go to a Country Festival at for New Year, but dont know whether i can brave the cold in the campervan, even though we have heating, will have to see how DH's job goes to see if we have any spare money.
Have a relaxing Sunday, BSB xx0 -
Afternoon all,
Been busy this morning, made hobnobs and peanut cookies, Panny is on only another hour to go so should start smelling of fresh bread soon.
DS has just done the hoovering downstairs, the rest can wait. Did most of the ironing yesterday. Dinner is Jacket spuds and garlic kiev in the Remoska - early due to F1 starting at 4pm.
Hope all those who are poorly feel better soon.
Penpin - good luck with hosp appt.
Anniestar - you are too kind!
Right time for tea and a hobnob.
Take care all, keep warm.
