Running a cartel?

Why should I need to set up a gas company to complain about a cartel?
That is a riduclous suggestion.
Complain to the EU - Let them do a dawn Raid.
Why do you keep moaning about Cartels then - Show me the evidence that shows that all suppliers are in collusion.
All the suggestions your making about energy prices are quite frankly humouring me at the moment as these are all personal opinions and not backed up by any sort of proof what so ever.
You didn't answer my question in the other thread you made either.
These companies that make profit, that need to replace the existing power stations in this country how can they do this without the huge profits your making.
My understanding is that to replace existing generators, upgrade infrastructure, and to create new gas storage, that would stop the huge increases in prices (they can store more gas through the summer when the spot markets are charging low rates per therm), would cost in the region of £100bn.
Who will pay this? Because I as a taxpayer don't want to foot yet another bill. So I am quite happy for companies to make these profits because without them we will not have enough power stations to match demand. What will we do then.
So what is your view on this then.0 -

The evidence is overwhelming it is not a question of whether there is a cartel but more of how long they should spend in jail.
If the gas companies need money for investment, well thats what shareholders are for. I am not here to give handouts to shareholder and greedy incompetent bosses.
Anyway it is best to take the gas companies back under government control because if we leave it to private industry our power companie well fail us just like the banks did.
Indeed the boss of Centrica is a drector of the Bank of England and thus should have seen the 'credit crunch' happening and overted it.
He failed in banking.
He is failing us again with energy.
What is he for anyway?0 -

One man's fault for a global credit crisis.
Yes this really strengthens your arguments.
So where is this overwhelming evidence then - because all I have seen is alot of media hype.0 -
They won't believe it when the prison door slams behind them either.

Methinks The Troll is a little jealous. Doesn't know whether to praise you, or sulk because your posts are even more silly than his own.0 -
Try and keep on topic Cardew, this is about the gas companies cartel and failure to lower their prices when the oil price fell despite raising the price promptly as it rose.
Please don't fill the thread with garbage.
Thank you.0 -
You seem to forget that the gas companies buy the gas you use months in advance to they know what the price is and therefore what their customers have to pay. If the market price goes up before they use the gas they save themselves and you from higher prices. If on the other hand the prices fall they still have to pay the higher price and so do you do. The same is true for electricity.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I suppose another director, Mary Francis...http://www.centrica.com/index.asp?pageid=158&go=Go
was brought in to keep on eye on them.0 -

And I'm assuming you don't mind £75 of your domestic fuel bill going to shareholders in the form of dividends?
Ps And there's ANOTHER mention for me from Hugh Jeego/Cardew :rotfl:. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I've always thought if someone's on ignore they have no interest in you and your opinions...so why does he mention me all the time?
I reckon there's at least 5 years work for a psychoanalyst with that bloke... Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -

It doesn't. The utility companies don't make all their money from domestic customers. And that figure was for 2007 anyway.
Besides, even if the average bill was 1125 pounds instead of 1200, you would still be moaning wouldn't you?0
