Yes. I left a foundation I bought at the Asda checkout once. When I went back they had recorded it in a book at customer services and they got me a replacement off the shelf. Very helpful I thought.

my hubby left 2 packets of cigs in the co-op the other week - he had packed up the shopping and left those on the side, I tried to ring them but coudn't get a number for them so drove back down with the receipt and they were waiting at the side of the till when I got there. Def give them a ring.

This happened to my boyfriend. He bought 17p (or some odd pence) paracetamol and a bottle of water. But for some bizarre reason after he paid for it on the self-service he accidentally walked off without picking it up.

Got back to the car and realised and it must have been less than five minutes but it had already gone from the till area. He still had his receipt so went to customer services. However they didn't believe him!

Who would go back in if they hadn't geniuenly leave it there?!

He was really annoyed as it was the last of the change he had and he still had his headache. I think it depends what customer service person you get.

    Good luck :)

Wow that's awful customer service! I guess the next person kept them. If it had been handed in or found by staff I assume they would have had it, and believed him! He should email/post a complaint :)

Definitely go back!! Way too many people leave things from 17p tins of peas to full bags of shopping to 12 packs of loo rolls and DON'T RETURN for them..such a waste.

I left an eyeshadow by the till in boots. I phoned up and they had found it and put it to one side for me.

I would echo what's been said - stores log left behind goods, re-shelve them but will replace them if you ask.
Unless the 'next' customer picked it up, of course.
No doubt it makes up for all the chilled food that people pick up, change their minds over and dump elsewhere in the store, thus rendering it unsaleable.
Because in the end we, the customers, pick up the tab for lost and damaged goods when the supermarkets and stores put up their prices...

How does that work then ! why because some dippo cant remember to take with them what they bought and the next chav in the queue picks it up and pockets it, how does that become awful customer service and worthy of a complaint ? are you assumming the world is full of honest people :rotfl: your having a laugh.

There is a link worth mentioning for this very situation and is recognised by all the leading supermarkets LINK
  • The suggestion/comment about other people picking up your items that you left behind....

Not an insult to you but I find it a bit hard to believe as if I saw items on the side at the S/S checkout, I'd assume someone had just decided not to buy them; I'd see any attempt to take them myself without paying as theft!! And would it not be picked up on camera? Or am I just too honest/too much of a wimp?!

You are an incredibly rude person, and the link is totally unnecessary.
Quite clearly the awful customer service bit concerned the person not being believed about leaving behind a 17p packet of tablets. Would anyone really try to con 17p out of them?
You have twisted the post in order to be rude, nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah I would, I think they might be nice and believe you (because how many people would go back saying this and be lying?)

I had a houmous without a lid, and went back to somerfield and they gave me a new one.
I was charged for 2 jams when I only bought one, and Sainsburys gave me the 60p or so back.
Different situations but they've always been really nice and not questioned refusing me. Take in the receipt with the coffee circled :)

I knew of a situation where someoned took empty meat packaging back to a shop saying the meat was bad -were they lieing?Yes.
