Child Trust Fund

Yay I am a daddy :D baby was born yesterday!

Anyway now I have to sort out the fun that is tax credits etc. But my first job is to ask about the child trust fund £250 that my baby will get. There seems to be a number of companies who will invest this money...I am confused about what is best to do with it so thought where better to ask than my favourite forum :D

My advise is don't worry about this till Feb next year, just enjoy your time with you new baby and be there for the Mrs.

The only thing I'd sort out is the child benefit for now. There is normally a form for child benefit in the bounty pack you'll get from the hospital, fill that in. If I were you I'd get it paid into Coventry Building Societies families 1st account.

    congratulations!!

the child trust fund voucher takes a few weeks to arrive, it is sent automatically when you apply for child benefit and you'll also be sent a list of providers, and a list of others who have their own fund but it's really provided by somebody else.

i'm too busy and brainfried to think about what so do with mine, so in the meantime asda have got it, apparently they send a george clothing voucher. my baby is a chunk so geoge clothes fit him better than any other brand lol!

    STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't waste your time on any of these arrangements yet. You'll have plenty of time in the coming months, we didn't invest our voucher until our son was about 6 months old.

If your wife is in hospital, log off and get in there straight away and be with her. It can be quite lonely stuck in there, I was for 5 days and you really want daddy there as much as he can.

If she is at home. Turn off the computer and spend time with baby and mummy and sleep when baby sleeps.

There are many things to get to grips with over the coming weeks, but this isn't one!

Enjoy this precious time. It goes by so quickly. Store the responses you are given to this thread and come back to it some time in the new year.

    Enjoy
