i've got virgin landline and i got a letter form them offering tv, phone and internet for £20. offer avaiable til end of nov. It's worth giving them a call to see if you can get it.
Also, can you switch your gas & elect to a cheaper provider?Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!

Think it might be worth investing time in a spending diary, even record it here if it helps.
Track where that money is going. And please pay the council tax above the other debts. It's much more importantNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Regarding lodging and having guests, I think it would be something to negotiate with your landlord. took lodgings for 6 months while I was on a medium term secondment for work and my landlord was happy for my boyfriend to stay during his occasional visits.
It might be worth giving any in the area a call and seeing what kind of expectations they might have. At least it'll give you on idea what you'll be in for once you give up year flat!
Good luck or getting things back on an even keel.0 -
I think whether you could have guests would depend on who you're lodging with. I've never heard of anyone not being able to bring a friend or two back but some may get funny about people staying over night. You should get some kind of contract though that would specify this.
I was just thinking if you were with other people/ in a family for a bit you may have a better chance to chat without going out.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Okay, next time I get paid I will write down every last thing that I spend money on and see where it is going.
On Monday I'll phone the council and explain my situation and see if there is any way I could pay less.
I still have 3-4 months in this flat but after then I will definetly look into moving into a flatshare or lodging. I've been looking at some sites about it and it would be ideal, most of them are around £300, some with all bills included, that would leave around £600 to get food/bus pass and things paid off! Got a feeling I would have to lose my cat though

Is there anyone that could look after the cat for a few months until you have sorted everything out as you may then be in a position to move into accomodation on your own and get the cat back?Weekly Spend Challenge: £0/£30

Hi
sorry i dont have any advice for you.
But id like to say that when i was your age i was debt big time and i could not aford to go out. I did not face up to my debt untill i was 24. by which time i could not even pay anything as my monthley bank charges were more than my wages..
But face it i did and i set up a DMP. and begged a lot at the bank.
4 years later and i now have my own house a wif and kid and some savings.
I v also only got 10 months left on DMP i have up the monley amout about threee times since iv had it.
You need to remember that it wont last forever the bad times will end.
One day all this will be over and you will smile again,
I hope that you find the answer to your problems soon.
And that you gert what you are looking for in life.
All the best:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Are you getting your 25% single person discount on your Council tax? Seems high for a one bed, even in Edinburgh.
And the Moneysaving Old Style Forum is a GREAT place to go for hints about cooking/cleaning on a budget.

I agree with what mummytofour says about a second job - maybe you're setting your sights too high though as I was going to suggest some bar work of some kind, maybe even you and your friends local if they need anyone, because at least then you'll get to socialise with your friends and it won't cost you a penny!PROUD TO HAVE DEALT WITH MY DEBTS0
