If possible, I would cancel that £100.00 to Virgin and pay it towards your council tax, you cannot go to prision for owing Virgin, you can go to prision for non payment of council tax.

That was a while back, I paid them £76 the other day and am due to pay them another £76 next month. I know it's stupid, but I just couldn't cope without the net :o it's the only thing I have...

can you post a statement of affairs? the guys on here are great there are some small steps you can take to make life easier
    - post a soa - people can help look at why you are so skint and see the problems
    - PLEASE pay your council tax it is the most important to pay
    - stop spending on anything you don't need and i mean NEED
    - go through your bank statements and see where the money goes when i did this i was able to cancel 3 direct debits ( saving over £100 a month on stuff i wasn;t using) and i could see i spent way to much in tesco
    - go for a walk fresh air time to think and clear your head and it is free
    - write down the total amount you owe and put it in your wallet so you see it everything you spend money
    - look at the items you have that could be sold, e bay car boot paper etc
    - look at up your income board for ways to make extra cash.

NOW make a nice cuppa and do a statement of affairs for the guys on here! thanks and good luck Jen

Being harsh.. almost 50% of your income is going on rent, could you get somewhere cheaper?? If there is more than one bedroom in your place get a lodger?

By all accounts you do not owe that much and I figure with a little work you could pay that off. What about a second job? How about bank care work at the hospital as a carer? They are always looking for staff.

I understand that you feel peed off at your lack of money but you need to consider what you do have, health youth and little debt a job and a roof over your head. It is easy to think everybody else has more than you but in most cases they are either on a double income, living at home or live on credit.
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!

No ones here to judge you ;)

You don't seem to have much cash to spare, but have you considered a DMP?

How many hours a week do you work?

it looks to me that your income is just to low for you to pay the amount you do on rent. could you retrain? get a second job or a new job?

    What's a DMP?

I am in a one bedroom flat, moved here after my ex left and only had a month to find a place so had to take the first thing that came along. The cheapest though is £450 so not much less.

I just checked the website for working tax credits, aparantly I can't get anything because I am under 25, why should people under 25 be left to cope when they are no doubt going to get less money in a job than someone over 25 is... makes no sense to me.

I know I don't have a lot of debt compared to others, but I am worried because I am going to end up with a lot of debt if it keeps going like this.

I work 35 hours a week. I have been trying to get a second job, but don't seem to even be getting a reply from any of the companies.

Have you thought about moving into a room in a shared flat? It's hard to adjust to when you've been used to living on your own, but it is much cheaper. It can also be good when you don't have money to go out, if there's someone to talk to and share a bottle of cheap wine with!
