Have you thought about moving into a room in a shared flat? It's hard to adjust to when you've been used to living on your own, but it is much cheaper. It can also be good when you don't have money to go out, if there's someone to talk to and share a bottle of cheap wine with!

I have been thinking it's my only option recently. But I have to wait until my contract is up here.

I've not got any advice for you I'm afraid but I just wanted to say I completely understand and sympathise. What you have written is largely why my eldest 2 still live at home.

Times are hard just now for a lot of people but I always feel sorry for the younger ones who are having to scrimp and save during a time of their life when they should be able to live a little before getting bogged down in families and heavy responsibilities. (God...I AM my Mother! )

Or at least I did feel sympathy for you until I read your sig. Diana sucks! :rotfl:

 No! She'll be in the final, you'll see ;)

Thanks for the reply, feels sometimes like everyone is looking down on me for not quite managing things, nice to know some people see how it is!

Your SOA looks like you should just be able to afford your normal outgoings, or has something changed since you budgeted for it?

How much longer have you got to go there? I would seriously consider contacting your landlord/ letting agent and explaining that you're finding things tight financially, and see if they'll let you out of the contract with maybe a month's notice. I know my landlady is willing to do this with people.. you may already have tried, if not, it's got to be worth asking.

    Drea,

Well, I am applauding you for being on this website at such a tender age. I wish I'd been on it when I was 21. When I think of the money I have chucked away due to sheer ignorance it makes me shudder.

Rather than a house share when your contract runs out, why not think about lodging somewhere. That way you may have your bills included, so you can focus on clearing debts and managing within your budget.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • As just said the below shows you have just enough to break even a month and if you don't pay for presents then you should have £29 spare a month. Are you getting single person council tax discount? Also I know you don't really have any entertainment but do you need the satellite tv?

    £485 rent
£108 council tax (that's what i worked it out as, might not be quite right, I know, head in the sand type thing going on here)
    £38 gas
    £38 electricity

Oh I'm forgetting my £30 - £40 virgin per month and my £11 TV license.

I don't have sat TV, I have the freeview option from Virgin, the TV doesn't cost me. It's my internet that costs the most from them. I've tried to get them to reduce the bill, but doesn't seem to be working

whitewing, as a lodger doesn't that mean I wouldn't be able to have any guests? Not that I have any anyway but I'd like to be able to invite people round now and then..
