The credit crunch shows no mercy and even millionaire celebrities aren't immune - just days after Michael Jackson was forced to put his Neverland Ranch up for sale, former Fugees star Wyclef Jean has had his Florida home repossessed...
I can only remember one song that the R&B band the Fugees ever did - Killing me Softly - and that was a remake of an old Lori Lieberman song (not Roberta Flack as so many think).
So, having copied their biggest song, it seems fitting that former Fugees hip hop star Wyclef Jean should be following the trend prevalent in the US property market at the moment and having his home repossessed.
The£1.5 million Miami Beach mansion, which Wyclef bought in 2004 with a £1.3 million mortgage, could now be sold at auction on December 10th this year at the Miami-Dade Courthouse, after entering foreclosure.

Director Yates bites the Bullitt
Thursday, December 11, 2008
Catherine Deshayes
As the director of Hollywood's classic car-chase movie Bullitt, starring Steve McQueen, Peter Yates is used to tense situations - three months after putting his Knightsbridge flat on the market at £4 million through Douglas & Gordon he has had to reduce the price to only £2.5 million...
"Unfortunately, the flat was over-valued as it only has an 18-year lease," says an insider. "Whoever buys it will need to negotiate a lease-extension with the landlords, which will cost them a further £1.5 million to £2 million."
Aldershot-born Yates's Ennismore Gardens maisonette has two bedrooms, three large reception rooms and the use of the communal gardens.
He and his wife, Virginia, plan to move to their Dakota Building apartment in New York, near their children, psychologist Miranda and film editor Toby

It was completely leopardskin tat! And yes, mirrored ceiling (eugh!). Danielle Lloyds place was actually very similar to mine - 2 bedroomed flat with a parking space. Big wowee - I want to see lavish lavish lavish lavish not somewhere that looks like mine! (not that she's a 'proper' celeb anyway)
The US ones are all identikit - bit TVs in every room, cinema room, large kitchen with Cristal in the fridge, 3 or more cars (1 x supercar, 1 Range Rover or other four by four, and a refurbished 1960s Mustang or the like). Not that I'm jealous or anything.

Poor Anthea.
According to the News of the World, in 2006, she paid herself £900,000 from the firm which furnished their buy-to-let homes at £11,000 a time before it went into administration last month.
In 2007, she also took £389,410 in 'consultancy services', £240,792 in advances and a £573,738 loan which was waived by the company - a total of £1,203,940 in the same year the firm posted a loss of £685,259.
It was claimed that creditors were owed £200,000.
Bovey told the paper: 'Our net worth was over £100million - now it's an awful lot less, just a small fraction of what it was.
'We are in the same boat as millions of other people. Next year is going to be very tough.'
Yup, exactly like millions of other people. Just like 'em. !!!!....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Great news. Maybe the administrators will let them stay in one of their own crummy buy to lets?0 -

Surely that is bordering (if not well into) criminal....
My guess is that they knew things were going t*ts up and syphoned off the money to stash away..... There has got to be some rules against that. :mad:0 -

You might think that, doubtless they're just the right side of the borderline - immoral but legal.0 -

just saw this, and know how interested some of you are in the perfect housewife
Did they actually lose 100 million quid or did the bank that loaned them the cash lose it? If the latter, chances are that the taxpayer will be stumping up to cover their losses.
She says that they might even 'lose the mansion;'. Frankly, it's a disgrace that they might even get to keep it given the way that they blew so much borrowed cash.--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0
