What can I do during the day that won't cost anything that will entertain my daughter (1 yr old) and myself. I have had to sell my car so I'll have to use public transport. The days are very long and monotonous when you have no money to spare  We go out for a walk everyday and visit the park. I was walking to the local Sainsbury's for something to do but I kept on spending money , there are only so many times I can visit the library and the park. Any suggestions from seasoned SAHMs?

Hi love i'm sorry to hear you are bored, you should make the most of this time believe me it goes very quickly!!!
I am a sahm and try to go to as many mum and baby groups as i can.
I know it is hard going for the first time but if you really make an effort and talk to as many people as you can you will soon make some friends.
Once you have some other mums as friends then you can go to the park with them, have them round to the house etc
Try your local netmums as they always have good info on local groups etc.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
Have you tried www.netmums.co.uk it's a really good site and has a local one with a meet mum board and loads of ideas for things to do in your area x:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

there are always plenty of toddler/baby groups about and its good if you have someone else to go with as sometimes they can be a bit cleaky(as i have found out in my new area!) but most of the time they are full of mums in the same position!
i attended a gingerbread group when i had DD and DS but as soon as i was married i wasnt allowed to go:( they set up lots of activities, creche, short courses and it was great fun! aslo ask your health visitor what is around there maybe something you have missed! What's for you won't go past you0 -
I used to spend afternoons at the play park with a picnic tea, not ideal for this time of the year. I met up with a friend at least once a week as we had kids the same age. I made cakes, but all in one recipes so everything could be added to one bowl and it did not matter if the eggs got added before the butter. Mary Berry recipes always worked. Other ideas are: hand painting, painting, sticking and glueing( rice, wool, shapes, leaves or anything onto paper), making play dough. Is there are a mums and babies group near you? Or you could organise a coffee morning to meet people.0

You don't say what activities you do at home with your daughter. If you tell people what you're already doing, they may be able to suggest other things.0

I second the netmums suggestion. A couple of years ago, I was reading a similar thread and netmums was suggested to that poster. I too was bored and a SAHM, so I followed the link, signed up and took a look at my local meet a mum board on the netmums site.
Found a message from a lady who was going to be moving to my area soon. Sent a reply and now she's my best friend!
So go for it you've nothing to lose - and possibly so much to gain.
Also a big up for mums & tods - I used to attend 2 different ones every week - often you can get a full list of all those in your area from your council.0
