Hi folks i also got a letter from these lowell people today. Initially i thought it was a wind up, as i have never had sky in my name and i had never lived anywhere near the address they said the debt was acrued. I looked on here and found i was not alone with this joke of a company. I phoned them to see what was going on and got a kid wi a really s**t attitude basically telling me they have not made a mistake. The guy wouldnt even let me know who to write to in customer services... He just said if its not you then you prob wont hear from us again. I asked for written conformation that the debt was not mine and my credit score would not be affected and got told.. we dont do that......

I am amazed that this kind of company can still be allowed to trade and damage peoples credit scores seemingly at will...

I will be following the advice given earlier on in the thread and be sending them a letter via recorded mail but i am still fuming that they send me letters demanding money without any reason....
  • Don't worry about Lowell, I am a previous employee from the company which I left due to the distress they cause individuals in debt. They discusted me and a few of us left at the same time.

The companies attrition rate is well over 50% and when we left at the same time we ALL lodge a complaint to the FSA as they were practising illegal methods to reclaim debt.

Sure enough, they are still under investigation and I personally wouldn't have any dealings with them and just say you will no longer deal with them and you only want to deal with SKY or any other client direct.

I'm fully behind all of you here against this company and their methods on collections needs to stop.

Enough of me rattling on now, sorry.

despite following instructions in this post and sending lowell a letter via recorded delivery i have yet again recieved another letter advising me that they have contacted debt collectors to "negotiate the settlement". This is crazy.... they are trying to harrass me for a debt for sky when i have never had sky in my own name and i have never lived or had any contact with the address the debt is at...

I know they are a joke of a company but what can i do to stop them harrasing me like this? I have tried calling them, writing letters, i have even forwarded copies of the letters and filed complaints with the CSA and watchdog......

What they are doing surely cannot be legal.... To demand money from someone who has no connetion to the debt..... its almost like they looked in the phone book and said we will go after him today !!!!

after pursusing it through every channel possible and forwarding complaints to every governing body i could i have finally got a result from this.

Recieved an letter with an apology from the collections supervisor Nigel Beaven basically apologising and saying thier investigations dept made a mistake and i will be removed from all thier databases and they have confirmed this will not affect my credit rating in any way.

Im just glad its over because in the 5 weeks since the first letter arrived i have recieved about 1 more letter a week threatening and the last one with the instruction that debt collecters were going to be involved all because they made a mistake and got the wrong person!!!!!

Anyway im happy it is all over now (I hope)

    Cheers

glad you got it sorted it out - I got a similar letter about 1 year ago, and the conclusion was the same. They even had the nerve to send me someone elses statements! One letter didn't even have a date on it...Same guy's name on the letter - Nigel Beaven...what a bunch of idiots.

cheers it is really frustrating having to deal with these companies. They really have a "Dont care" attitude if you phone them and basically laugh when you tell them they have the wrong person. I ended up having to go through the CSA to sort this out.

The thing i dont understand is how it could happen. They couldnt have got my address from sky as i have never had a sky account it just seems totaly random!
  • I,after reading this forum and various other complaints regards Sky,feel they are using very spurious tactics to recruit new viewers. I left 2 years ago,was told at the time I had to give 30 days notice which I did then of course my d/d`s stopped. I have, since then, received numerous phone calls and letters begging me to go back,I have told them I do not intend to return to anyone who steals cricket from the nation--thats my reason for loathing them!!
I was told that even if I owed them money--up to a max of £50 I could go back and they would wipe the slate clean,so to speak. My answer was still no of course...THEN--I received a letter from a debt collection agency saying I owed Sky--guess what--£50.00 for unpaid viewing, well I went off it. I wrote to this company, who incidently are in Scotland next door to Sky saying I owed nothing. I then was so mad I telephoned Sky and literally screamed down the `phone hurling insults by the score regards their dishonest tactics. I was told that this new guy who had taken over was trying all sorts to woo back customers as his new job depended on it. Lady from Sky verified I did not owe any money at all as my account was finalised correctly. So,it goes without saying Sky is telling lies-and GETTING AWAY WITH IT--saying people owe them money in the hope they will go back to them and thus end this purely fabricated debt.-
How do they get away with it? surely someone has reported them for these tactics. I would dare bet most of the poor people in this forum owe Sky diddly squat --try what I did have a screaming fit down the `phone,at least, touch wood, they havn`t been back on to me.
I have a very good credit rating and do not want it messed up by some underhand, lying cheat at this very spurious company. All you have to do is Google Sky/cheat/debt/owed/lying/ and you will be on months reading all the complaints about you and your lying, cheating ways. BTW--when are you going to stop being so money mad--we want our cricket back.

I would be inclined to write back, pointing out the high level of distress that their actions have caused you, and inform them that you are looking at the option of claiming damages against them.

Been abroad for the past year or so. Now back, sorting out finances, to find out that these Lowell idiots are on my credit report as well. Of course, I called Experian right away and they said they will liaise with Lowell to get the entry removed. It was most certainly logged in error. Although Lowell/Creation sent me someone else's statements and were quite clearly wrong about their so called claim, they never bothered to write to me to tell me this. So, Experian told me that if anyone had in fact paid the debt, thinking that they actually owed it, they would get the money back. Hmmm - now, I don't think they would be offering the money back to you up front, so if anyone has paid money, please go and claim it back!
