Rear facing?? Anyone use it with their toddlers

I wouldn't however have her rear facing at 4 even though I could buy a car seat to do that because I think she might be called a baby by her friends. Mental health is as important as physical IMO.
Ahhh see what ya mean! Doh! Got confused, I thought you meant once she had grown out of current seat and then needed to use standard seat belt. I agree that mental health is as important as physical.0 -
Don't mean to hijack the OP's thread, but does anyone know of any good deals on rear-facing car seats that suit larger children/babies? My DD1 is tiny so came straight from our rear-facing Group 0 car seat into a forward-facing Britax Explora Isofix at approx 14m.
However DD2 is on the 91st centile for height and weight, and is already almost 19lbs at 5 1/2 months. The Group 0 carseat has a weight limit of 22lbs and I certainly don't want to put her forward-facing before she's 1!
I would like to find a bargain if possible (though obviously NOT a cheap and nasty seat, just a good deal) as money is tight and I'd like to be able to afford the same seat as her sister when she does go forward-facing.
That is an unusual seat you have. Most rear facing car seats go up to 13kg rather than 10kg. I think your best bet is probably the Britax First Class SI which because it is rear and forward facing is very large and will accomodate a child more easily. In addition it has the bonus that you will be able to use it when she eventually needs to go forward facing. Obviously you would need to check that it fits your car because otherwise you need to think again.

I wonder if it's a SX Ventura , not the new model but the old model , I know my SIL had one and it was only up to 22lbs and then she had to get the Britax 1st ClassBaby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

It's the Mutsy Traveller - great that it can lie flat, but the weight limit is relatively small and tbh the thing weighs a ton! I will look at the Britax one mentioned, thanks.0

I think the problem is that when DD2 DOES go forward-facing, I'd like her in another Britax Isofix seat the same as her sister. So I don't really need a seat that will face backwards and forwards, if you see what I mean? Just a decent, reasonably priced Group 0 seat that goes a bit bigger than the one we've got.0

TBH I think you'll find it hard to get a "cheap", large, safe seat. I can recommend the Max Cosi Cabriofix (well I have it with the base but apart from that the same seat). My DD is still in hers and she's 19 1/2 months and tall. I think without the base you can get it for around £80.0

Mothercare do their own combination seat, quite cheaply too, think they are around £70 and the britax si is on offer too
