here i go with my dumb questions are you ready...
Does the main t.v. freeview box have to be switched on?
Can we watch one channel on the main set and another on the other set in the bedroom?

no you cant watch two seprate channel using freeview box, it only allows you to view and change the channnels you have on your main set on your other tv.

Seems some of these video senders do have poor quality output and will affect the quality of the picture you see on your 2nd tv, although havent tried this one out myself. As already mentioned they dont work with telwest and ntl boxes.

I got a sender from Maplin around £35-£40. Transmits at 2.4mkz and picture is great, had to buy another sky+ remote though for upstairs (£10 also from Maplin).

The picture did go a little fuzzy a few times but I just played around with the positioning of the 2 boxes. Overall an excellent buy and really nice to watch sky in bed without having to pay an extra £10 a month.

There's no way you can avoid the picture degredation caused by going composite, which will affect you on digital reception, PVRs and DVDs (but not analogue reception and VHS recordings). If you're not worried by this then go ahead!

    Yes you can.

My wireless router is no more than 3' from my sender and I don't get problem with interference. I've also got Bluetooth phones, PDAs and adapaters and two DECT cordless phones and everything works together in harmony.

I have my wireless router (same model as yours incidentally) in the next room to one of the receivers and the interference ranges from "mildly annoying" to "impossible to watch". There is another receiver in a room next-but-one to the router and the interference is non-existent there.

Have you tried changing channels on the router or the video sender/receiver? FWIW my network is on Channel 11 and my sender/receiver on Channel A (of A/B/C/D).

Is it actually your network that is the problem or is there some other interference? Does the problem vanish if you turn off the router?

Another thought - is there something substantial blocking the signal between the sender and the receiver? These signals do not cope well with metal or water or anything thick and solid in the way, so an immersion tank stuck between the two in a direct line of sight would be a real problem. Maybe you can move the sender or receiver by a few feet and see if that improves things.

Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D
