Do you have a vauxhall or vw by any chance?
Apologies for my terminolgy but the vaux definately dont follow iso standards and you have to swop over 2 cables on the radio connection to prevent the time and radion stations bweing lost each time you switch off the engine.0 -
As posted by nads, you may need to buy a simple interconnecting cable that goes between the car wiring and the back of the radio, depending on the make of the car. Vauxhall and VW tend to swap the +12v switched and +12v permenant supplies around. If you're able, you could just cut the 2 cables, fit bullet crimps and swap the connections that way.
Your local motor factors (or Halfords) should have what you need for £10-£15, but Halfords can be more expensive.
I'm very tempted by this deal, does anyone know if the radio will connect to built in stalk remote controls already fitted to some cars (ie Peugeot)?

may I add, generally speaking, the +12V (RED) and +12V switched (yellow) wires need to be swapped
often kenwood stereos have bullet connectors on them so you can do this, other stereos you can 'pop' the pins out of the connector, or just 'cut 'em and tape 'emmoney saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Same with Goodmans who provide bullet connectors for quick switching this is what the GOODMANS manual says:
Caution Vauxhall Owners:
Vauxhall do not follow normal ISO wiring conventions which will cause Godmans radios' to lose the radio preset memories each time the ignition switch is turned off. To prevent such occurences swap over the Red ignition and Orange Memory wires in the bullet connectors attached to the wiring harness of the car radio.0 -
I have just fitted it inot my 1999 vauxhall. Just used a precision flat screwdrived to pop out the yellow and red wires and swapped them round in the iso. No problems at all. All programmed radio stations were stored.
I must say though.. the reception is not as good as you would get on a vauxhall bog standard radio and sound quality from fm radio is quite poor. Fortunately, I am an am/mw listener, so no problems there. CD/MP3 is fine though.0 -
Machofairy,
What model as my wife has a zaffria T reg and when I put a sony stereo in I did not need to swap over wires. Will I need to with the stereo0
