  • Monday already again and not feeling so great today. Feel like I've got a bit of a tummy bug on the way.

Had a nice weekend - I went 'home'. Was lovely to see my family but my Mum is still poorly, so distressing as ever to see her in so much pain and so weak. Fingers crossed it's all sorted out soon and she's better.

I spent a bit of money on petrol at the weekend as it's a fair drive home, although my Darling Dad gave me petrol money for the way back. Mum and Dad also had lots of treats, household stuff and groceries packed up for me to bring back too, they really are so wonderful and generous. Our cupboards and freezers are full to the brim now! I am missing home today very much and am worrying even more than normal about my Mum, who has to go into hospital for a procedure today.

I had a haircut (£10) at the weekend and also bought hubby a takeaway in our rush to get sorted on Friday (£7.50) as he hadn't eaten. Also picked up a few more Christmas bits and a birthday present on Friday too (£17). Spent 65p on a diet coke this morning too. :o

Quidco paid £7-something into my account, guess the other £15 I'm owed has rolled over to next month then .

Have had three more survey invites in my inbox, but was just too tired to get the laptop out and on last night, so will do them tonight if they're not already closed. £3 has been paid into my paypal account from the survey I did last week too.

Other news - hubby has a new job! :T It is a permanent job, not temp, funded like the other jobs he has previously, and this is very specialised and in the field he was aiming to work in. It's pretty much his ideal job and, hopefully, very secure. Also comes with pension scheme etc which he can finally start to repay. There is a catch however - it will be a slight drop in pay at first until he climbs up the ladder, but eventually he will be earning pretty much what he is on now and a little more. It's a perfectly reasonable wage and we will manage on it fine - it's also worth taking the drop in pay just for the job security this role offers. We will need to re-assess the budget a little when he gets his first pay packet.

Unfortunately, with my trip home and stressful things that have been going on this month, I haven't kept a very good grip on the budget. I don't know how much money will be left (if any), and I'm thinking we're going to be overdrawn again. :confused: Will have to look at damage limitation after giving myself a slap tonight. I really need to get back into controlling the budget better.

  • Just had another book sell on Amazon - total of £4.53 on the way to me. It is quite a heavy book though, so probably not more than £2.50 profit on that one - but better than nothing! I may send it 2nd class if it's going to cost a lot 1st class.

My Mum gave me another book to list on there which I shall do tonight. I've had a look and it's currently going for around £8 which would be a nice little profit. ;)

  • Forgot to mention earlier, also had quite a few £2 coins come my way this weekend, :D had to part with one though as had no other change on me  but the total in my £2 coin pot is now up to £12. :rotfl::p
  • Woo hoo - the book I listed on Amaon an hour ago or so has sold already for £8.01. :T:D:j The first book I sold today is not as heavy as I thought it was, so should get a nice £10 or so profit from those two. Will pay it off the credit card as soon as the money transfers over.

The first book is wrapped and ready to send, I shall wrap the other one now and get hubby to pop them in the post tomorrow.

I managed to complete two of the three surveys I received earlier - got screened out of the last one.

  • Last night was very upsetting - Mum's procedure didn't go to plan and nothing was achieved. We were holding out for this to help move things forward and now it feels like we're back at square one. We are in the dark as to what treatment shall be offered now and she is in a bad way at the moment. I'm just trying to get through the day hour by hour presently. I almost didn't come into work as I didn't know if I could face these horrible blokes I work with and their 'antics' all day, but I don't want to build up sick time with job situation not particularly stable.
So, on I go... I'm the only one in at the moment so I'm ok for now, shame it doesn't stay like this all day - just me in the office!

Onto other moneysaving stuff... have wrapped the second book sold on Amazon and that's ready to post now too. Instead of putting the £10 onto the virgin card, I've paid it off the now cut up 'emergency' credit card which I spent on last month. There's £77 left on there to pay which will be paid in full out of my 'spending money' next payday.

Hubby has put a slow cooker meal going for tonight, and we've both got packed breakfasts and lunches with us for work.

I have lots of stuff to ebay and now would be the perfect time to list stuff with Christmas on the horizon but I still don't have a camera. We can't afford to buy one, and the one we lent from someone before is now no longer available so it's really frustrating me at the moment as I could probably make £100 or over on there presently and that would be a big chunk off the credit card.

Haven't entered any comps since last week, can't be bothered at the moment. I know I should, but I can't muster up the will to do so presently.

Urgh, I can hear footsteps, looks like I'm not alone in the office today after all... :(

  • No major money saving updates since this morning, have just come on here to keep myself sane and try and drive all the worry out of my head for a quiet moment...

Have sent off for another Burt's Bees freebie for my Mum - will be a nice treat for her to get in the post. :D

Have been staring aimlessly at my snowball calculator today, willing the debt balances to go down of their own accord. So far it's not worked. :o:confused::o

Have also been reading some diaries for motivation and inspiration - it always puts me in a more positive mood after reading them.

Not sure what I'm going to do to keep myself busy tonight. I could do some cleaning I guess, and maybe bagging / jarring up some sweets I made last night for my darling Dad. Have printed off some labels at work and may play around with those tonight and make the Christmas gift jars look pretty. Not entirely sure, but I know I need to do something to try and keep my mind off things.

  • I've just come off the phone from the consultant's (who is supposed to be treating my Mum) secretary. I have asked if Mum will get seen quicker if we pay for her to go private and how much it will cost. My folks have already said they are prepared to pay anything. The secretary has said they want to try and avoid us having to pay for private treatment but I stressed we will do anything to make sure Mum gets the treatment she needs before it's too late. I feel slightly better for talking to her as she was really quite helpful, but nearly broke down on the phone, I got all choked up. She is supposed to be calling back today. Every day feels a week long at the moment.
  • Well, Mum's back in hospital. :(

I did another survey last night for 50 points (50p), can withdraw around £3 from that account now but will wait until it reaches £5 before transferring it as cash to paypal. There's £3 sat n my Paypal account at the moment as you can only withdraw amounts over £6.

Amazon books have been posted today, no more sales to report.

  • Trying to jolly myself along today...

So, virtual retail therapy: So far I've 'virtually' spent £20 on lovely things on the Lakeland website, (could've spent a lot more :o), thankfully had the sense to remove the stuff from my basket and stop drooling  over lovely kitchen and baking things - ie. stuff I want but really don't need. It came close at one point though - I even found a free delivery code!

Also made myself 'go away' from Amazon after finding a 'few things':o... came back to the dfw diaries instead and had a read of a few of these to get me on the right track.

Been looking at 'whats the cost' too - by the end of this month, our total outstanding debt will be £18,372.71 (give or take a few £'s with the crazy lloyds loan where the balance will be reduced as we'll pay it off very early). Guess the next milestone will be when it's under £10k which should be around September/October of next year. Got to keep reminding myself we've come a long way from this time last year.

Goodness me, today is dragging... :undecided Hurry up Wednesday!

  • So have been AWOL for a few days... personally, things have been tough.

My Mum is due to have surgery this week so we have fingers and toes and everything crossed this will rectify the situation and she will get her life back. It is risky, but our only hope.

Moneywise, we've overspent. Not drastically, but enought to make us overdrawn at the end of the month by about £100 as it currently stands, but could be more by payday. I'm not beating myself up about it at the moment, we'll save it back soon enough and there are otherm ore important things I am worried about at the moment.

I'm annoyed with myself tonight, I signed up to Butlins Bingo to start doing the free scratchcards daily - had to deposit £10 (£10 bonus though & hopefully £10 back through Quidco) but messed up on the site, got very confused and managed to lose the £10 I had deposited. Grrr. Hopefully I can manage to do the scratchcards successfully from now on!

Have had a busy night in the kitchen. Have salvaged quite a lot of wilted veg from the bottom of the fridge and made a slow cooker veggie chilli for tomorrowhere'll be lots of portions to freeze for lunches too.:D

Our 'non overpay' loan payment came out of the bank account today, as usual. That costs us £216.73 a month; will be so glad when that one has eventually been paid off, although it will be the last debt we have and may take a long while to repay it fully if we let it run its course. Our sofa payment comes out this week too - £103 - that'll be the 2nd payment so 10 more of those to go until it's paid off.

I received the fabulous Burt's Bees gift pack freebie on Saturday (worth £24.99! :T). It's really lovely and is now in my 'present box' to save as a pressie for a birthday next year. Also received a free sample of foundation today which I got through the freebie board too. :D

I haven't entered any comps for about a week now, can't be bothered at the moment. I'm sure I'll get back to it again sometime in the future.
