Hi All - Ben Heaton here from SeedDirect. Have just been alerted to the low prices at AlanRomans.com. We are adjusting all our prices down to beat AlanRomans. It's going to take a day or two as there are 275 to check. Thanks to MoneySaving expert RAS for drawing our attention to this excellent competitors site.
We did not receive any emails to support@seeddirect.co.uk pointing out that AlanRomans.com site had these cheaper prices quoted above. While we adjust our prices lower the "Price Guarantee" offer has ben removed from the site and is not currently valid. We will put it back live when the new lower prices are live, hopefully by the end of the w/e, but with slightly ammended terms and conditions as we don't want to expose ourselves to large numbers of people requesting to be rewarded for pointing out price discrepancies that we have already been notified about.0 -
Hi
Interested to see the response! If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi RAS
Can you elaborate? I've got access to a frost free and an unheated greenhouse but am a novice so don't know how to make the best use of them. I've got broad beans and peas on damp paper (from a tip from another forum) and plan to sow some Winter Gem lettuce and garlic tomorrow. What else can I be doing now?
Hi
The garlic needs to go in the garden - it actually needs frost and cold to grow properly.
With the peas I suggest you plant them in hanging baskets, so they trail down but are kept out of the reach of mice.
Get hold of Joy larkcoms excellent book on growing Vegetables and read the article at the end on growing winter salads.
Try
Rocket
Landcress
Endives and chicories
Lamb's lettuce
Oriental greens
Also you can grow plain leaved kales and beets for salad leaves if you pick them small
For stir fries and veggies
Spring Onions
Mizuna
Mustard Giant red Wave
Spinach Beet
Swiss ChardIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thank you very much RAS.
I am going to put some garlic in pots outside but :www: watched Chris Beardshaw planting in a polytunnel :www: who explained that if you put it in the fridge a couple weeks, it will have the same effect. I'm not trying it this time but thought I'd pass on the tip
What a good tip about the peas! When these have sprouted I will plant some in a basket. I will also plant some of those other seeds today.2025 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD. Physical 92, Digital 203, 10 Used Up

Another question RAS
. I have searched our library for Joy's books and there are 6 titles in surrounding libraries - none in mine - which means I'd have to pay to request it at mine. Which title were you recommending?
Thanks again.

I went to my local Wyevale yesterday and they had FREE packets of mixed salad leaves at the till. I just helped myself.
I aslo went to B & Q and they were giving away perennials so I bagged myself 3 different lillies. I grow flowers on my allottment to attract insects and so that I have cut flowers for most of the year.Nothing is truly lost until your mum can't find it!0 -

I picked up a mushroom kit (Mr. Fothergill's Marvellous Mushrooms) and will report back how things go.....
Just had a look and it seems they sell other peoples seeds i.e. Fothergill etc
so I don't really understand why you have recommended them. am I missing something? Are the seeds discounted?0 -

Spam? Just seems strange kurt osis has only done 2 posts and both mention your company, then a couple of hours after his post of saying you do price match, you make a post! With you saying "We did not receive any emails to support@seeddirect.co.uk pointing out that AlanRomans.com site had these cheaper prices quoted above." yet you found your way to this tread by yourself  Your post is very confussing with you saying your been told about the prices but you had'nt...0
