I have been trying to reclaim mis-sold PPi since last summer.
Took out a loan with First National through UK Loans Group, PPI added automatically and at the time I didn't know it shouldn't be.
Paid off loan after about 3 years and assumed balance of PPI was refunded in the settlement figure. 2 years later had a letter saying policy was now finished and I wouldn't be able to claim on it.
Rang First National to say that I thought it was refunded 2 years before and they said no, they keep it running.
Then heard about PPI mis-selling so but in a claim to First National. They said that as loan was sold by broker had to go through them. Have tried to contact - first letter to their PO Box returned as PO Box been cancelled. Wrote to full postal address, recorded delivery, in October. Haven't had letter back but no tract on Post Office Track & Trace. Have contacted FOS who have written to the same address I had and not heard anything yet.
Where do I stand if the broker is no longer trading?
Would it be of any use to try and claim the last 2 years PPI from First National, as the loan was already paid up?
    Can anyone advise please?
Sorry this is a bit long winded but I really would appreciate any help
    Thanks

Was the broker called uk loan group? what was the address?

So they have offered £2978.88 of the £16729.80 you are owed.

I take it you are refusing their offer here boo34. Its up to you but that is an insult to me.

You need to ask them how they come about this figure. Were you rebated perhaps when paying the other loans up....

You really need a breakdown first before anything else.

Showergirl, was there a box to tick on your agreement for PPI?

No. All it has on the agreement is
    Details of your loan
Purpose and amount Main Loan and then Insurance Loan
There is no box to tick whether you want this or not, it is just there in the agreement that is why I was under the impression you had to take it as it is included in the agreement.
I have asked Tesco if they have a copy of the telephone call. And they have said no all they have based their decision on is the credit agreement and the policy booklet. So basically I signed for it so tough, it was up to me to cancel within 30 days if I was not happy. Surely this cannot be right but I will just have to wait for the ombudsman to make his decision.
Thanks for your help and support

    Hi there

This will depend if you believe you were mis sold the PPI or not hun and if this would not have covered you etc, but check this link out here which you may find useful, as there are many reasons to take into account, and there is also a reclaim template on the link, they have 8 weeks to respond in full, another letter maybe required if not successful first time round, post by recorded delivery:

Keep us posted hun, if you feel you have a case here then go for it, good luck.;)

    Sorry to bother you again.
But if there is no box to tick how can they say that I opted to take out the policy. How am I suppose to read the terms and conditions when I have a courier standing at the door. I am sure there was something on the ombudsmans web site about this but can't find it. Seems I am getting the same reply as Natilie 6999. Well like I said WE MAY MAY DOWN BUT WE ARE NOT OUT YET.
Any advice on this would be grateful

I see your point here hun, you don't get the chance to do this (read the t&c's), I found that as well over the years.

Hopefully some useful info will come back within the SAR, if this case does go as far as the FOS they will take your reasons into consideration as well hun, but hopefully it will be resolved by then.;)

I think there are many cases like this that have been successful.
