• Hi guys and gals,

I need some advice from anyone if you can please.

I took out a loan from my bank HSBC in September 2006. The loan was for £3k. I also purchased the PPI for 600 + Interest, so total if completing the agreement would be £805.04. I recently read the article on the website about reclaiming the PPI and feel I have a case for doing so. The only problem is, its my word against the lenders.

My reason for claming will be the following (what I have wrote on the letter):

This is due to the fact that I was not given the correct information when the policy was sold to me, as:
• Your salesperson stated that taking out the policy would assist my credit application.
• Your salesperson was very pushy in selling me the policy so that I felt I could not say no.
• Your salesperson stated that taking out the policy was essential for me to get the associated credit.
My problem with this is, I have paperwork which I signed saying I understood everything and that the sales person explained everything to me.
I was at the naive age of 19, and some will say I am still naive at the age of 22!

I do feel I was pressured into signing the agreement, and opting for cover, and the sales person did actually say that it was very unlikely I'd be accepted for the loan without taking the PPI. These are the only valid points I can make, however, have no actual evidence to support them other than my own word while the bank on the other hand have the paperwork which I signed saying everything was explained to me and I have read the T&C's.

How likely am I to receive any sort of settlement for this?
Is there any point in even trying?

Any help or advice would be great.

Thanks,
Luke.

Hi there Luke

If you feel you were not sold this fairly check this link out here:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

There is some useful PPI info and reasons of mis selling, there is also a letter template on that link.

Check it all out and if any of them also occur to you then write and complain to the ones who arranged the loan/ppi for you.

Write as much as you can to support your complaint, they have 8 weeks to respond in full, and post by recorded delivery to keep a check on the 8 weeks they have.

Hopefully this will be successful first time round, let us know and we can move on to the next step, good luck hun and please post anytime you require further help.;)

Do not worry about what they wrote about you understanding this, this is generally something added in the paperwork, you still have your own reasons.

• Thank you for your reply Di, It is much appreciated.

I have read through that article before deciding to send this letter. The only reasons I can think of are the ones stated in my post.

Would be interested to know what your thoughts are on the claim, and whether you personally think I have a leg to stand on.

Cheers,
Luke.

Not a problem hun, I also sent you a PM as well in case you missed the post but not to worry.;)

I feel you have a chance here hun and your right with you just being 19 at the time, you were at that vulnerable age anyway, that is at least one thing that will support your case.

Also to be pressured is something as well, like most on this reclaiming thread have been sucessful reclaiming.

They should have given you an option and they obviously did not, so Luke get writing to them, you do have a chance here, and if you receive a fob off letter back from them, do not let this go, as there are further step to take from there as well.

You do have a good leg to stand on.;)
