PPI Reclaiming discussion Part III

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me? I have just been reading through my First Plus booklet. I was trying to find how much we owe on our loan as my hubby is thinking of a new job which would mean a house move. I was horrified to find that the Insurance I have paid was not only taken upfront but I am going to be paying for it for 15 years but will only be covered for 5 years. My husband is covered under his works sick pay for full pay for 6 months and half pay for 6 months. I knew it would be repaid after 5 years but I didnt realise it was up front and I certainly had no idea it would be over 15 years!!! The form says we get back £16775 but we are paying £155 a month for this. I am SO angry at myself for not seeing this. Any advice on what we can do if anything would be very gratefull received.
Hi there
Another about First Plus:eek:
Was it actually First plus who arranged your loan/ppi or a broker do you know hun?
And when was this taken out?
Cheers.
You can start hun by checking this link out here first:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
There is some useful PPI info on there and PPI mis selling reasons, if any of them occur to you then write to them with your own reasons, there is also a letter template on the link to help you.
They have 8 weeks to respond in full.
Post by recorded delivery, and if you can let us know the outcome we can take it to the next step if required, good luck hun and if you require further help/info, just yell anytime where we will help where we can.

Just take a look at the link here and see what you can add and delete from the template letter. Its always best to do your own from this. There are lots of reason on there for the misselling so pick out the ones that are applicable to yours.
You then write to the firm that actually made the sale of the PPI to you if this is different from the lender and don't forget to send this recorded delivery so you always a proof and dates etc.
After that you have to give them 8 weeks for a full and final response. In this time it is usual to get a response of "sorry we sold this to you fairly" but you then respond to this and reiterate your complaint again. The next time they write they either give you a final response which you would need in order to take this complaint to the FOS or offer to settle.

Hiya hun
I see our lovely helpful Maxdp has posted (cheers Max);) .
What many will do is write back and enclose a copy of the FOS form with it ,and inform them you are now taking this to the Financial ombudsman service where you are enclosing a copy of the form you have sent to the FOS.
(this way they may still reconsider your complaint, even if the FOS are investigating, if the Barclays do change their mind and give you an offer that your happy with, you can then just let the FOS know);)
You can down load a form here:
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm
Or contact them, there is a contact number on the link and request one through the post.
Take a photocopy once completed to send to Barclays.
Also add any correspondence (in copies) within the FOS complaint form.;)
Good luck hunni and thank you for your lovely sweet comment earlier.:A
Please post back anytime if you need further help/info x

Hi Di glad t c u back, hope your feeling better now, yes max was very helpful and quick to reply, i have had letters from sky card today saying they dont think they mis-sold me the ppi but they are offering me a £8 39 goodwill for last months charge, without excepting being at fault, so where do i take it now with them and capital one also wrote to me saying again it wasnt missold me and even though i told them i was self employed childminder then if my business colapsed then i could still claim. So my very helpful friend what do i do with them now lol .xxxxx
Hi Sarah and thank you.;)
Good to see you here as well hun.
Now okay its good they have made you an offer, but if you feel this is not right or far too low to the expected amount, you can complain to the financial ombudsman service - regarding Sky.
Do you actually know what the amount is in PPI at all hun?
Now with Capital one, was that their final response?
If not write to them again and ask them to reconsider or you will take this to the FOS.
If they have given you the final response, have they enclosed any FOS leaflets?
Cheers hunni.;) xxxThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hello,
What are you trying to achieve with this account may i ask?
Hello Boo, originally it was PPI but the company were not regulated. But when I asked for the agreement to prove I requested it they said they didnt have one ,closed the account and defaulted me! So I rang the FOS as I was quite happy to pay the account and they shouldnt have defaulted me.
Wasnt that bothered about the result of the complaint until I read the " you refused £450 we cant get them to refund £27 charges !!!! I refused because I dont need a default ! I'd not get a default accepting charges back.:mad:DS1 12/10/04
