PPI Reclaiming discussion Part III

Hi all,
Looking for a little info if I can as I have spent 30-40 minutes trying to find it.
Bit of background,
Provider: AA thru RBS.
Loan Amount £11,500
PPI Amount £3,500.
PPI was lump sum.
I am in the Forces and told them as it is on the loan agreement, however will not be covered due to the nature of my job.
PPI would only pay out for 12 months if required.
No option to opt out of insurance.
Anyways I got the default fob off letters from RBS so I asked relative(Ambulance Chaser no commision) to sort as I didn't have the time last year but nothing has been done.
However now I have the time to sort it.
what my question is, On one of the letters it states I have 6 months to speak to the Ombudsman about my claim. As this time has now expired is there no option to claim or can I re-write to RBS to open this up again?
Any advice is welcomed.
Thanks in advance.0 -
I wrote to the broker loans.co.uk they told me to contact GE Money as this was there final response so I sent GE money the same 1st letter. they said it was to be taken up with loans.co.uk. I understand they have both been fined too.marshallka wrote: »I take it you had the final from the broker and who was the broker as this was 2004??0 -
You need to know if loans.co.uk were members of the GISC at the date you took out your loan... This is because it was 2004 when you had it and they were not regulated by the FSA until 14th Jan 2005.I wrote to the broker loans.co.uk they told me to contact GE Money as this was there final response so I sent GE money the same 1st letter. they said it was to be taken up with loans.co.uk. I would try the Ombudsman service first with it and say that you have been otherwise engaged (in the forces!!).Hi all,

If they have suggested the Financial ombudsman service on the response you received, you should be able to complain to them, if you want to check this out like what Marshallka said you can ring them who will be able to confirm this to you and of course they will send the form out the same time.;)

I can't be too sure I will have to check the paperwork as I am in work at the moment.
I believe it to be over the 6 month point. It could be 2 months.0 -
How do i find that out because all the paper work is for GE Money from Loans.co.uk so they dont say.marshallka wrote: »You need to know if loans.co.uk were members of the GISC at the date you took out your loan... Then I would ring the FOS first and see if they will definately (ask them for a definate answer as I would not want you to send it in and then get told a couple of weeks down the line that you need to write to RBS again) look into this as its over 6 months and you have been busy with work. I am sure they will when you explain the circumstances.I can't be too sure I will have to check the paperwork as I am in work at the moment.
