Right not received the letter of the outcome of the Pinnacle claim yet, but I did note on their claims process list it does say they let you know urgently if the claim has been declined.
We did ask them by email the outcome of this but they just said its been assessed and the letter was sent out Friday and not that on the day of Wednesday, as we thought they said it was already sent out then, and from this it will be switched to unemployment where they have those documents already from us to investigate.

We did tell them 2 weeks ago it was urgent due to the mortgage coming out on 6th Jan, so I expect the letter will be posted by Monday - hopefully.

    Our Claims Process

At Cardif Pinnacle Support, we believe in offering our customers the very best service we can. That's why we've made our claims process as simple and as easy as possible. We also guarantee a prompt response to your claim so that you get quick access to your benefits.
Our process is designed to be simple and efficient, and conforms to the ISO9002 international quality standard.

We deal with most of claims by following four easy to follow stages.
Stage 1 - Receipt of your Claim Form
We enter the details of your claim into our claims system on receipt of your fully completed and signed claim form.

Stage 2 - Validating your Information
We'll check the information you've provided on your claims form to make sure you've not missed anything out. If we need more information or something's missing, we'll contact you right away.

Stage 3 - Guarding against Fraud
With your consent, we'll submit the details of your claim to a claims register, which most insurers who provide unemployment cover subscribe to. We do this to detect fraudulent claims, and also to make sure that any claims legitimately submitted to a number of insurers are efficiently assessed.

Stage 4 - Validating your Claim
Once we have all the information we need, we'll assess your claim, taking into account the terms and conditions of your policy.

    Stage 4A - Claim Approved
If we approve your claim, we will calculate when the first benefit payment is due. If this has already passed, we will make your first payment. If not, we'll send you a Continuing Claim Form, which you should complete and return when your first benefit is due. Payment will then follow.
We'll also send you a Continuing Claim Form with each benefit payment until you return to work, or you have received the full benefits payable under the terms of your policy.
Please note that some policies require us to make the payment directly to your lender.

Stage 4B - Further Information Required
Sometimes we need to ask for more detailed information from relevant third parties, such as your previous employer, to help us reach a decision. We will do our utmost to minimise any delay in getting back to you with a decision.

    Stage 4C - Claim Declined
Occasionally, claims fall outside the terms and conditions of the policy. If this is the case, we will let you know as a matter of urgency that we have declined your claim. If you feel we have acted incorrectly, you can take full advantage of our appeals and review procedure.

Dreamer33 can you please reassure me that the third party know that the FOS cant help and is this loan paid off??

    Hi pinknico

No the 3rd party don't know that I can't go to FOS they do know it is paid off and of the date the loan was taken out. I am assuming they will put 2 and 2 together.

    Why do you ask?

What broker was it then?? I take it your complaint is with the broker?

Please let us know what result you get and wishing you luck with this one.;)

The broker is Norton. They sold us the policy harping on about it being a savings plan because we would get £17K back if we didn't claim for 5 years. They didn't care that I have high blood pressure saying it wouldn't affect my cash back!If I came out of work for a couple of months or even up to a year then the simple maths says I would avoid claiming at all costs so effectively I had no insurance anyway! They were dismissive in their final response saying they had followed the script and they don't offer advice, but they have conveniently lost the recording of their conversation with me on the phone.Once this is done I am gonna go after Barclays First Plus for the rebate. They keep saying its down to the broker but they are forgetting its their product in name and I haven't mentioned Section 36 in writing to them yet. The only thing that confuses me about this is do I go after them or whoever has underwritten the policy cos its split between 3 companies. More smoke and mirrors?

With pleasure hun, and you can still prepare for a reclaim/complaint letter too while your waiting if you want to, which is on the link here:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

Some still continue to complain while waiting for SAR docs, but if its further evidence you think you need to back this up then you can wait for those to come through first from the SAR if you want to.

Good luck and please get back to us, so we can help you through this.;)

    Cheers

Yes Di, I think i will complain too while waiting for the SAR info. I went on line to check my statements (they only went back for a certain amount of time and the first few I wasn't charged the PPI because the amount on my card was not enough for the PPI to kick in). When I used the card for a larger purchase in 2007 this is when I was started to be charged the PPI. I'm not sure if I was charged PPI when I intially took the card out in 2005 to the date of the statements because I'm not sure what my balance would have been for these periods. I think I could have possibly transferred a balance to the card initially and then paid it off as there would have been not much of a reason to have applied forthe card in the first place otherwise, I'm sure it was a 0% balance transfer...I've added up the PPI I was charged for the few months before I became aware of it and stopped it and comes to less than £45. Seems such a paltry sum in comparison to other people, but it could be more if I was also charged it for some of the period 2005 to 2007. I guess the SAR stuff would tell me that.

I will do the letter and let you know what happens, I see from an earlier post today the standard letter you get back from Egg so I'll be anticipating that!

    Thanks / Diolch!

  • Hi guys

Just an update received a letter today from HFC Bank regarding Marbles loan from 2004 that we paid off early. They are investigating our complaint! I know it might be a stalling tactic at least we didn't get told to 'fluff off' first time:rotfl:

considering I was just trying it on as I'd already threw paperwork out their letter had an agreement number on, which I guess is our loan number.

    Fingers crossed! :D

Hello dreamer, I am glad this loan is paid off as if it wasn't if you won and Freedom took off the PPI the 25% would include this money even though you dont actually see it so you would have to find the money to pay the 25%.

For example I have a loan with £5000 PPI and a claim company win my case, the loan company take off the £5000 and repay me the amount I have already paid . I now owe the claim company 25% of the £5000 and 25% of the money refunded to me. So some people end up with no PPI and cheaper monthly payments but no money in their hand and still owing the claim company the rest of their 25% .

Also some companys give up on a case as soon as they find out the FOS cant help, they dont do the court route.

I am sure you are in good hands, I just didnt want you ripped off anymore than you have been. xx
