hi i have been told to post this in here by di3004
does this little lot make any sense to anyone and what sort of claim would i be looking at
Im have been looking at your PPI posts and im well confused i have had a few loans from HSBC over the last 7 years and just been looking at my old statements and they all have PPI on them. However i must have signed the form so can i still reclaim them back.
it looks like they added the total protection to the loan in one it rather than a small fee each month so i haev been paying interest on the protection i take it
the statement entries are like this
27 july 01 - (for a £500 loan no idea why they paid in £540)paid in loan capital - £540paid out loan protection - £47.2726 april 02 - (5k loan to top up the one above that was nearly ended)paid in loan capital - £4930paid out loan protection - £934.75paid out loan repayment - £192.38paid in LN premium refund - £3.6420 august 03 - (yet another top up loan think it was about 7k)paid in loan capital - £8650paid out loan protection - £1655.87paid out loan repayment - £4104.92loan protection refund - £505.68then this may i paid this one ofloan repayment - £757.44loan protection refund - £2.71does this all look above board im just finding it hard how people are claiming back loan protection when they must have taken it out. im not understanding0 -
sandraroffey wrote: »i have been trying to get back PPi from La Redoute (the replies are coming from REDCATS UK) and the latest reply, after me saying pay up or you're dead, goes something like this:
our records show that your policy was sold on the 30th october 2000. the financial ombudsman service, which was set up to help customers with certain complaints, has only had authority over Redcats (Brands) ltd since 14th january 2005. before this date the financial ombudsman service will only investigate and assist complaints regarding mis-selling of policies where the company was previously covered by other regulations set in the general insurance standards council disputes resolution facility. ('GISC DRF')
this means that the rules and regulations as they stand today did not cover the selling of your policy at the time that you purchased it. As Redcats (Brands) Ltd., was not covered by the GISC DRF, we believe this complaint to be outside the jurisdiction of the financial ombudsman service.
based on this we must refer you back to our original response and inform you that we are not upholding your complaint.
it then goes on to say that if i'm not satisfied, contact the financial ombudsman service.
is what they are saying, correct?? sounds like someone has been reading a legal dictionary to me!!!
Hi
Been looking into the above company this is what I found:
Redcats, Empire stores and la redoute all appear to be the same company. Checked companies house and they all live at the same address. I will try to see if any of them are under any jurisdiction.
If you are claiming an amount under £5000 you could take them to the small claims court this would scare them. I would before this send a complaint to fos it is worth a shot, also I would inform the FSA state you do not think you have been treated fairly, they've already been fined for this and other things.
They are not upholding your complaint because they think you have no where to turn.
Yes think they have been reading a law dictionary :rotfl:
Do you have any evidence of the ppi being mis-sold, sorry if you have already posted this before?
Have a look at the below link from the FSA website redcats have been fined for mis-selling and a lot of other things:
http://www.fsa.gov.uk/register/firmDiscHistoryDetails.do?discHistorySid=1320&sid=129923
I would also ask them what happened to "Treating customers Fairly" the FSA would not be happy:wave:0 -

Hi there glad you made it here.
Here is a link about PPI insurance
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
Check this link out as some may occur to yourself here.
I know that most finance companies used to add the ppi automatically without asking their customers, where then it is thought by the customer that its part of the loan agreements etc.
If you feel you have a case here hun, there is also a template letter on the above link, they have 8 weeks to respond, post by recorded delivery to keep an eye on the deadline.
keep us posted, in case you receive a standard first fob off response where most of us do so first time, but there are further steps to take here, so let us know when you hear so we can help you move on with this.;)
I am not the one for calculations, but Marshallka here is amazing, not sure if Marshallka will be able to deal with this tonight though as she has had a very busy day, but maybe tomorrow;) , if you don't mind waiting until then.
However you do not need the figures yet for the reclaim letter.
Use the template to help you on that above link and add your own reasons.
Just add all the dates and agreement number if the same bank about all the loan ppi.
If you require further info hun, please post anytime, good luck.

OOOOhhhhhhhh very posh Di, bet you can't wait to get it lol:wave:0 -
Di what do you think of sandraroffey post:
Companies house shows them all living at the same address, however FSA register shows Redcats have been fined and La redoute is showing another address different from what I've seen on companies house. But under principles on fsa register is shows redcats?
Its all a little confusing:wave:0 -

Hi
Make sure you send it recorded delivery, its always best to send your letters by post, then they can't turn around and say they never received your email.:wave:0
