Thank you Di, I'll get in contact with the FOS. Do you think i should still cancel the PPI or leave it until i get a response from the FOS.

marshallka wrote: »Are these counsellors or actual clinical psychologists or psychiatrists... I really believe in psychology myself. Its just the time it takes and the money too. I think sometimes docs do not want to listen and just dish out the pills and then the person who was slightly depressed over issues that probably could have been resolved by therapy is hooked and needs more pills before coming off the first. I believe lots is just learnt behaviour that you can unlearn..
I do know some people are ill really and need the pills but they should never be used long term and docs do keeping giving them. They damage some people more than ever and they can never return to normal life again. Its just easier sometimes to pill them up and blank their minds...
Also I realise we are all different with different coping mechanisms and it is each to their own. And most of us have some kind of psychological issues that we keep hidden. Its if you want your mind digging into that it helps with. If you don't then stick to the pills. No-one is perfect...(only me of course). I love psychology. I have so many books and thinking yourself well books... The mind is so powerful..
Even when psychologists do come to the sort of conclusions that you have quoted etc it is then that you begin to understand why and know you have a choice in things..Do you let it ruin your life anymore or understand where it came from and try to move on...without the need for pills.
Hi Marshallka
I do agree in most of what you say. I do think lots of people get a lot of help with talking therapies. I think if you get a good therapist that challenges your perspective of events and behaviours then that is good.. I also think the mind is extremely powerful. I am not questioning the art of the subject its the practice.
I suppose another way of looking at things is. If you worked in a Jam making factory would you eat the jam from that factory?
We do also all have psychological issues and coping mechanisms and there is nothing wrong with that it is only when it affects our lives or those around us then it becomes a problem.
For instance amongst some of my friends (normal people I promise) one likes to hang her washing out with plastic pegs and for one piece of clothing both pegs have to be the same colour. I always like the toilet roll to have the tail coming down the front rather than the back. Now these are small things and cause nobody any harm but if I was that fanatical about it and spent ages doing these things or tormented myself into doing them in certain ways, or if I made a mistake would have to start the ritual again then that would be a problem. I bet all people on here could list a good three or four traits that they have which may be seen as obsessional.
Anyway Marshallka I am just an old cynic. But do like a good discussion.
How did your daughter get on in her dancing I bet she was exhausted bless her.:D:mad:0 -

Hi hun
Now that would be your choice, if its no use to you anyway then I can't see why not.;)
I did cancel mine two months after the cooling period, but the repayments were not lowered by that much, however if this goes in your favour, which I think it will you get EVERY penny back, plus stat interest etc.;)
You should be okay to cancel yours separately anyway, here is what I found on here:Some Lenders' policies (after initial 30 day cooling off period)Northern Rock you can cancel PPI separately. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Many thanks Di for the advice really appriciate it.0

I took a loan out with first plus for 20000 and have realised that this included a single payment ppi of 5600 which is only over 5 years but included a 50% cash back of the premiums after 60 months. This was their main selling point and I have now realised the loan is over 240 months which wasnt made clear at the time. Do I cancel the payments ?? and then claim it back or as this now included in the whole loan will I not be able to....I am cofused as to the roue I must take0

My daughter does her 1st one tonite.. she is really excited.
My obsession here is PPI and getting my finances in order. (and this blumming site):o
I received an email about my Co-op claims yesterday and it says that they gave the business two weeks for a reply about the other two claims and this time is up next week so perhaps I was a little eager to be wanting the reply sooner.0 -

Just take a look at the link here and see what you can add and delete from the letter that you send. There is also a template letter on there too but sometimes it can be better to make your own up from this.
You then write to the firm that actually made the sale of the PPI to you if this is different from the lender and don't forget to send this recorded delivery so you always a proof and dates etc.
After that you have to give them 8 weeks for a full and final response. In this time it is usual to get a response of "sorry we sold this to you fairly" but you then respond to this and reiterate your complaint again. The next time they write they either give you a final response which you would need in order to take this complaint to the FOS or offer to settle.

No have heard nothing yet. E mailed adjudicator again saying I had not heard from the bank they sent a read receipt but have not acknowledged in any other way. Five weeks ago the FOS told me that as soon s they hear from the bank they would let me know and that the bank was very busy at the mom. My heart bleeds. They should not have sold all these PPI in the first place.
I am left wondering what to do now. Wonder if I may cancel this with the FOS and go down another route, that way I will get more than my PPI back and it will serve them right for P...ing me about. My complaint was upheld seven months ago. I have had no proper workings out. They missed out one of the loans and thirdly they took them as stand alone rather than re-financed. I know FOS hands are tied but I am getting fed up with being fobbed off:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Apart from that I am a very happy bunny this morning:rotfl::mad:0 -
thnaks for the advise. There was no broker involved. It was First Plus who delat with the selling of the PPI, in fact I have no details of who to contact anyway if I needed to claim . I took this out in November 20070
