my daughter is 5 and all she wants for xmas is a real fairy and nothing else i've been looking about for something santa could give her with a note about how it would be cruel to keep areal fairy but can't find anything suitable as a fairy, I would like it to look lifelike and have some clothes on! some i've looked at are rather risky. I'm not very crafty either so couldn't make one, has anyone got any suggestions I'm at my wits end.

perhaps say they are very hard to find and they live deep in the forest, and are too busy helping santa and its cruel to keep them in a house???
she's too young to know they aren't real!!
Maybe dress up barbie in wings!?

Instead of a doll, why don't you get her something to do with Flower Fairies?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Book-Flower-Fairies/dp/0723248397/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225228363&sr=8-1
It's a classic, so I'm sure you could fine something cheaper around, but if you got something like that, you could go through it with her and show her that fairies don't like living in houses and prefer to be out with the flowers and wildlife?
You could then take her on a lovely Winter walk in the woods, looking for the flowers and signs of fairies!
Ahem. I am a grown woman, really.0 -

What about creating her a fairy garden which the fairies visit at night when she is asleep? there are probably tons of different sites as they seem to be becoming more common but Lilla's is the only one that springs to mind http://www.kahlilla.com/Cubby.htmBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

thankyou all so much for your wonderfull replys and ideas I love the fairy inn ajar and the fairys from fairyglass are fab I'm ordering one of those and getting out our flower fairy book on xmas morning - santa will be leaving a note from the xmas fairy explaining you can't keep fairys but if your quiet you may just see them!!
thanks again:beer:0 -
oh yeah can confirm the fairys in a jar are lovely. we used to sell these in our shop. put the jar in a cardboard box which had a special label on and holes cut in the top so the fairy could 'breathe'! watch out when you pick one as there are some scary looking ones in those jars!! (and very pretty ones too!)

Why don't you tell her you have adopted a fairy for her like you do animals at the zoo? Find a photo of a fairy and send that to her, sprinkled with fairy dust (glitter) telling her that it is her adopted fairy. You could get her to write to the fairy and you could write the replies back to her yourself. Now and then you could send her little gifts from her fairy. Sorry if this is a stupid idea!0
